I like that you don't shy away from the fact that Esdeath's army consists of utter scum. I hope that they get what's coming to them in your story, and/or the other one too. It always pissed me off that they never got punished in canon, especially since we get no real indication that they were really all that tough without Esdeath and the Three Beasts doing the bulk of the heavy-lifting, plus the manga explicitly said that they'd been exhausted by all those campaigns, to slaughtering them like cattle shouldn't have been that hard.

This story kind of reminds me of "The Imperial Saber", except better written. Plus that version of Tatsumi had a brotherly affection for Makoto and didn't hide his hatred for Honest.
