This is very good. I found Peter more harsh and judgmental season five through series end. He did say those things you fit into this story, and Neal was hurt. Then Rebecca hurt him badly too and Peter didn’t show any interest to understand. This had to have contributed to Neal’s faked death, he wanted his freedom from the FBI and it wasn’t certain that Peter could deliver it. I appreciate Neal’s thoughts on Mozzie and how he wished he could have taken Mozzie with him. This way he was sure to keep him safe.
Thanks for filling in some gaps for us readers, and for doing it so well. If you wrote a follow up or any WC we will look for it.

I have enjoyed this very much. After season 5, for me, it was the best thing Neal could do to get his freedom back. I think that Neal would have done something to let Mozzie and maybe June that he was alive. Peter was one of the best things that happened to Neal but Peter was also the person who did hurt Neal the most. Thank you for posting this story, I hope you keep writing more WC stories.

Uuu! I like this, a nice deviation from the other fics. Hopefully, this stays with the canon and we get to see Neal back to his best and living the life of adventure and cons. Fully heartedly agree on Peter and Mozzie on both holding him back one way or the other even though they were the closest to him. Personally, I feel that June was one of the few ones who truly saw and understood him.

I really enjoyed your story. It was very well written. I always wanted Neal to get his commutation and for Sara to come back either pregnant or with a little blue eyed girl in tow. That would have been the best episode !

I did enjoy your story very much. I liked the way the show ended things and the fact that Neal was able to reclaim his independence and control of his life from both Peter and Mozzie, who were his friends, but many times were unwittingly too controlling. They often were too busy trying to fulfill their own plans for him to listen to what Neal wanted or needed . He was also able to ditch everyone else who had their own agenda for his life , and was able to decide for himself where his life should go from that point on. I did not like the way Peter was portrayed in season five or the fact that his and Neal’s friendship such as it was, was essentially shattered by the show’s writers, so I am pleased that you also addressed this in your story. I would like to see more perspectives from other characters but I also like the fact that you did not end your story with a nice neat reunion but left it sort of open ended. Well done.

i stayed up until 3:30 Am so it goes without saying how much I enjoyed the story I remember how I felt the last10 minutes of the show even though I knew he faked his death because of a comment made by Matt about where Neal cmight be in ten years and you are required to be alive to be somewhere.

I really enjoyed reading this! I actually enjoyed how they ended the series mostly because Neal would never be completely “good” but I don’t believe he’s off robbing museums either. It’s also left open so maybe someday they will make a movie!
