Short but good.

Yes, the leaving of Susan all alone by killing all of her family, just because she wanted to get on with her life and leave Narnia behind was so hateful of the author. She was only doing what Aslan had told her and enforced, in the best way she could. Why the parents had to die was of course because the author didn't want us to worry for them and wanted us to feel joy that they could now join their children in the New/Real Narnia. Which leaves us in an odd place as the reader. Are we being also asked to forget Susan? There is no mention of Susan in the great reunion as we weep with joy.
I think you have raised all this very nicely by the way you describe Lucy as forgetting Susan in heaven for many years. Some heaven...
