Kinda interesting, my main issue was it's pace being so fast, and I do kinda like IchiHime as a ship. So honestly, I liked the adopted version better

Well, I have no real interest in this, but I do know why Kyoka Suigetsu is not part of the "getsu" family of zanpakuto from the Shiba branch family.

You see, a lot of names in Bleach are from different readings of the same symbol sets because Japanese and Chinese share a lot of them but read differently... and Japanese has several ways to say each one on top of that.

Tite Kubo merely chose the more poetic readings of them. For example, Zangetsu, in more esoteric readings, could be something like katesuki (ka-te for cutting/slaying and tsuki for moon, with letters moved for the sake of sounding and reading easier).

Now, my example is NOT correct Japanese. I don't know Japanese enough to put something together that's even remotely accurate. But I do believe I have accurately demonstrated, in part, why the names are the way they are.

They don't stick to one convention unless in the same family, and instead whatever sounds more poetic and gets the meaning across is used for someone unrelated. Tsuki (the Japanese reading of the moon symbol) would be used instead of getsu (a Chinese reading of the moon symbol... there are multiple Chinese languages, too) when it sounds better.

Also, the same symbols can have different meanings based on context. And romaji is just the phonetic pronunciation and not the symbol, so the same symbol could have two different romaji based on context. At least, that's my understanding so far.

Zangetsu means slaying moon with a hint at slaying by cutting (which is why some fan translations called it cutting moon back in the day, because both slaying and cutting could be taken from it).

Engetsu is translated as scathing moon because it refers to something being so hot it cuts really well. But a direct transition without context might be any of the following: "sharp/cutting/chopping/razor/scathing moon".

Both Ichigo and Isshin have an emphasis on a moon that cuts or a moon being cut. And as I've known it before, a moon sometimes represents fate. Especially in the Final Fantasy games, where a false moon ends up being the final boss in some cases.

Anyway, cutting fate seems to be the Shiba branch family theme.

Suigetsu means water moon. Kyoka means mirror flower. Those directly reference a Japanese saying of "Flower seen in the morror. Moon reflected on the water's surface." Or, illusions. The theme of Aizen's zanpakuto is creating illusions, which is why, even though moon is used, the meaning it's used towards is so different there's no reason to give it a Getsuga Tensho.

In fact, you might say Zangetsu is the opposite of Suigetsu, if you take moon to mean illusions in both cases. They sound the same, but are genuinely opposed in meaning in this case. A Gestuga Tensho (moon piercer) would be the furthest thing from Kyoka Suigetsu's abilities (moon creation).

I hope that helped explain things... because I think my brain hurts now.

Anyway, the potential takeaway is: find the theme of your character's powers and match the name to that. Only force a familial naming convention if your character is born to a family with a theme, and make sure their abilities fit the theme.

Good luck... and sorry for the mental anguish.

I would of read theirs but he flat out stated he would not make Ichigo OP so no point. I hate stories where the MC has to struggle all the time. If I wanted that I would just re-watch the original series.
