I don't think it's really Canadians doing all the mutant experimentation, I think it's just that the bad guys have realized that only about 20% of Canada actually has any people in it so it's about as remote as it gets without having to deal with Russia.

I'm reminded of the Percy Jackson books. In Sea of Monsters, he gets attacked by cannibalistic giants which tend to live in the north. When he's told what they're called, he comments that that's too complicated and asks if there's something simpler to call them - Annabeth thinks for a second, then says "Canadians".

It gets referenced in Son of Neptune, when an amnesiac Percy encounters a group of them and calls them Canadians - which causes his Canadian companion to essentially go "Hey!".

Nice. I highly approve of them letting go of the idiot ball. Even if it turns out to only be a momentary realization of oops.

Yeah seriously, in settings like these I would ALWAYS check if someone had been mentally manipulated if they're acting out of character, I can literally not understand how people could not figure out when Doc Oc had replaced Spider-Man, it's just bullshit plot convenience.

Jack should not agree to let any of his family know until he has a way to in faster than speedster can react beam him back to the ship visit Earth or be around other powered people like Prof.X or the Richards that either have the raw power to contain him or can invent something to

"Tattletale" is one of the monikers used by Franklin Richards who was part of the team.

Think the other one was "Psi-Lord", but I'm not 100 percent on that one

God I love the Power Pack; can't wait to see where Jack's misadventures are gonna take him in light of everything. (Also a bit curious how the F4 would react to both the family power-theft and Jack running away...)

Always did like Katie, good kid.

Not really familiar with Power Pack, it was after I gave mainly up on mainstream comics (I think - I'd have to check when they were) and before I started picking up the occasional graphic novel (read once and then donate to the pediatrics ward for the kiddos). Is there a Tattletale in Marvel Comics or did you import her from Worm?

You're not exactly the only one not terribly happy with the way the Disney Empire is handling their properties. All they need to do is start calling the dissenters Rebel Scum...

At the risk of repeating myself, thanks for continuing this idea, where you try to give these heroes some different angle.

We now see, first of all, Jack practicing his idea of searching for precious materials on asteroids, and accidentally discovering how to teleport with Julie's powers.

To later see his family, ask for the help of the X-Men, with Jack speaking precisely at that moment (he had hopes of possible mental manipulation of his family, in his parents there are no signs, but in Alex... maybe?) mentioning why he no longer trusts his parents and older siblings (which visibly affects Julie), considering only Katie as family and countering every argument about his situation, with his parents and older siblings resenting every response, and Wolverine , of all people, having an idea of a middle ground for a solution, with Jack agreeing; and with Logan's explanation, finally making the Powers understand why the decision they made was wrong, and also suggesting that Katie be present at Jack's future visit, with the youngest of the Powers accepted without hesitation.

Also curious what happened when Alex put his hand on Katie's shoulder, that glow, when he removed it, seeing her reaction (he passed his power to Katie?).

Also, given how he sees the situation, Jack, would he take preventative measures, like a force field or something, in case of a possible ambush?

Or also with Alex (to give him the benefit of the doubt and a break), chatting with someone, some friend or young hero, who would make him reflect on what he did, seeing it from a different point of view

Good luck and keep it up

Definitely nailed it on the feelings/psychological impact side of the story, as for the powers portion, I can't really say because I've never read the Powers Family comic line.

If nothing else I am glad you are tying in both the X-Men and the Fantastic Four into the story, giving a taste of the rather hectic and chaotic nature of Marvel. I also liked that Wolverine was able to sympathize with both sides and able to explain to Jack's family both what they did wrong in a way they understood but also got Jack to understand that isolating himself away wasn't the answer.

Also I loved the settings Jack set up on the HUD while collecting the asteroids, though it would make me hangry after a while smelling bacon and not finding any. Especially when there is no bacon to be found nearby. I love the fact you are inserting various other fictional worlds in as pop culture references, especially when they are less used in such a way. It adds depth to the story, at least in my opinion, that could potentially be foreshadowing or simply as decoration to help flesh out the background of what the world considers fiction over fact. Like the one gag scene of Harry, Hermione, and Ron exiting Diagon Alley only to almost get run over in Marvel's New Excalibur comic.

I'm not as surprised as your other readers that Logan gets it.

Logan was there when Storm was forcibly depowered and she wasn't a happy camper about it. Torpedoed the romantic relationship she had with Forge.

So why would Jack react any differently? Hell, in some ways it's even worse as it is his own family trying to stab him in the back rather than a lover.

Lovers come and go, family is supposed to be forever.

Well, the Powers have been reduced to "relatives", the same way that Harry Potter views the Dursleys.

And the chances of coming back from this?

Low.

I'd liken it to one SO cheating on the other, even if it never happened again, the trust will never be on the same level again, irrespective of forgiveness.

Because the memory of the betrayal will always linger in the back on your head.

Katie is family. He's just related to the rest of them.

No different from Laura (Logan's rethreaded clone/daughter) seeing Daken (his son) as a relative, rather than a brother.

Great job on the emotions in that last part

I wonder how long it'll take for them figure out he is in space.
