This is an awesome premise! I've really enjoyed reading up to this point, I love the whole John Wick feel.
I think there's a bit of clean up to do in the presentation of the story. Right now the it reads a bit like a movie script. I think if you spend some time on developing each character from a third-person perspective, as opposed to their emotional perspective, this story will feel more balanced. I suppose you could lean into the script style too; more action less detail. That tends to leave out some of the romance in my opinion, and I so enjoy the romance.
Either way I hope you keep writing and building this story, I cannot wait to see how JJ will handle Emily's darker tendancies. So far, she has been drawn to Emily "like a magnet" and I'm hoping for a show of that patented Jareau determination. Emily is an interesting combination of characteristics that intregues me. I hope she will learn to let JJ in. She seems to have developed a 'working persona' that emulates the emotions she's disconnected from. The way I'm reading, she is already starting to blur the edges of presenting vs. feeling those emotions.
