This had me hooked from the first paragraph. I stayed up late to finish reading it. You handled Hutch's "wound" very well. And I loved Starsky's backstory. Exciting, well-written, worth re-reading. Thanks for a great read.

Such a great story! Love the back story of war hero Starsky. We all knew he had to be the best at whatever he does. So much love between the guys. You captured them perfectly!

Good story..."Sweet Revenge" was an interesting story arc... and this provides a well-thought out coda...love the AU explanation of Starsky's past...impressive

Another great story from you Nancy girl! I really love stories with something about the boys past, especially Starsky and his Vietnam experience. It's interesting that Hutch knows 99.9% of everything about Starsky - except for Nam - that1%. Your story helped fill in that blank just right. Loved how you portrayed the Nam Starsky vs the "Hutch" Starsky. I could see his eyes getting dark and dangerous as Starsky turned to the man he was in the jungle. And Hutch was there with him and for him the whole time. Just like Starsky was there for Hutch when he was dealing with the Gunther aftermath.
Keep the writing going my friend - looking forward to the next adventure!

Day-um, girlfriend! Just when you think the coast is clear... more shit hits the fan! Love the white hot action interspersed with historical tie-ins and authentically portrayed psychological distress, uncompromising love, and the down-to-the-wire loyalty we’ve come to expect from our boys (even though you have us on the edge of our seats begging, “Don’t give up!”). I like your reveals regarding Starsky’s past. Shocking, but not inconsistent with what we already know and sense about him. Even though this is fanfic, I will never look at Starsky the same way again!

Use of the song, “Fire Away,” is a beautiful way to summarize your theme and depict the relationship between these two men. I hadn’t heard the song before so I went to listen after I read the lyrics. (I cried!) I thought about the many times our boys have been shot at and verbally abused and what that must do to a man with an earnest sense of civic duty and good intentions... how it would cause him to love and trust and *need* his partner more than anyone else in his world. His survival, emotionally and physically, depends on that relationship. As your story reminds us: no one can understand him, love him, hurt him or heal him the way his partner can. At the same time, you are realistic about trauma; the damage can never be undone, but wounds can patched and protected by someone who truly loves us.

As I’ve said in past reviews, I really enjoy how you describe gestures that are familiar to us and use dialogue that rings true without resorting to the tired phrases that seem to plague fanfic. All of your stories feel fresh and, as yours never fail to be, they are full of intriguing possibilities!

I finished reading your story this morning, Nancy, and love it! Well done. It's such a fine line our boys walk with each other, bearing the responsibility of one looking after the other while the carer is emotionally torn apart. You captured this tension and its fallout perfectly in your story!

Nancy, that was awesome! It was like two stories in one but tied together. I liked the unexpected introduction of Reno. Well done!
