Not bad, though it would've been far more humorous wit something along the lines of funeral flowers mistaken for something lecherous. This was too tame and too safe in my eyes.

Haha, I really enjoyed this. It was just the right kind of light hearted and humorous, and the whole misunderstanding over a cactus actually made me laugh (which doesn't happen all that often!). I imagine these kinds of misunderstandings are common when people from different cultures interact, and you've captured that here beautifully. Thank you for taking the time to write this!

Reading this again made me remember how my brother reacted when I bought a cute cactus to be placed on our dining table. Imagine my surprise when he got home and saw the cactus, he flipped saying I should put it out because cacti are bad luck in feng sui. Lol. So now, my little cactus is placed at our porch instead.
Too much for cacti, eh? Hahahaha! I had a good read! Great light-hearted fluff as well! :D

Shikamaru, baby! Haha, he's so cute and clueless the whole time, lol. I cringed right after Gaara said the cacti was a bad luck and he had not allowed it inside the village. Shikamaru's romantic gesture backfired badly, omg.

Oh my gosh! This was hilarious. I was so curious as to what on earth had gotten Shikamaru into so much trouble. Naturally, the one time he tries to do something out of his way - it backfires. This was hilarious, but also so sweet. I really really enjoyed it! I also appreciate the thought that went into it with looking up the meaning of the cactus!

I loved this Shikamaru/Temari moment. I never knew the meaning of cacti. Actually I don't know the meaning of most plants. That said, it's a great and light hearted way to incorporate the concept of misunderstanding into your oneshot! Great!

I really liked how you described that Shikamaru got more and more confused, it's so rare to see him off guard with no strategy or plan at hand. The misunderstanding was great and I can see this happening because the two of them come from different villages.

Happy New Year! (even tho it’s late)
This was a cute read! It was lighthearted and I really enjoyed it. Once again, I’m not completely familiar with the characters but I thought everything was well displayed. Especially the part at the beginning: “life just seemed to get more complex the older he got.”

I loved this very much, there is always misunderstanding when two cultures clash.
I remember a time when I was at church and there was an ant hill where my mom was standing with some other women, and she went said in Spanish "there is a lot 'bugs' in here" all the other women looked at her wierd and other person explained my mom that while in my home country the Spanish word we use for bug, is a bad word in the country of the other ladies were from.
So this is very relevant for me.

Hahaha I thought Shikamaru would have known better that different cultures have different traditions and superstitions but I guess a smart boy like him can also make an honest mistake like us deadly humans. The plot was funny even though it has been seen before. You just executed it so well in your own way which made it a pleasure to read it. Well done!
