Newspapers and news companies as a whole are outdated. This will be a horribly outdated story if you go the Daily Planet route. Same with Spider-Man and the Daily Bugle. Worked in the 60s-80s but no longer. Not that it ever made sense why two geniuses would work for news organizations. These days, even less so. News companies are slower than the internet when it comes to news now. So the excuse of them allowing them to save more people is a pretty bad one. Always was for Superman with super hearing and vision and Spider-Man with his Spoder-Sense though if you think about it.

Nice work. I look forward to more. Please remember, that though the Kents may seem like they are Left-leaning, they are actually quite Conservative. They are just good, honest, hardworking country folk that concern themselves with their own business and beliefs and are not interested in forcing their opinions on others. Very much the "Silent Majority " types. They are religious, humble and always willing to lend a hand to others. They are the very people that the Leftist Elites denigrate and hate the most. They are the types to believe that America is the greatest country ever, and while they may not approve or agree with everything the President says, they would still support his policies as long as American interests are being taken care of.
Superman himself is not political and has outright refused to endorse/espouse any political ideas or ideologies. Based on his upbringing though, he is very much more Libertarian/Conservative than anything. He accepts people for who they are and lets them make their own decisions. He doesn't always agree with those decisions, but he accepts them. He's very old-fashioned, with beliefs that would have Twitter in an uproar should he speak them. Superman values all life and would not be Pro-choice, rather he would keep his opinion to himself. He is also very scientific and logical, so you just know the current SJW movements where feelings matter more than facts would annoy him. However, he would say they have the right to think what they like and leave it at that.
I'm not telling you how or what to write, just offering a reminder that for 80 years, Supes has stood for classic American values, not the current insanity which spits on those values at every turn.

Good story so far I like the little touches you had with the dog licking a bit of jelly off Jonathan's boot and how Marthas tomatoes are parched people usually neglect to add those small things but I think it helps build a better picture personally I hope you don't add any more DC characters and just have Superman and Marvel characters also hope you don't have Clark with Lois Lane and instead have him with someone like Carol Danvera anyway thanks for writing so far.

I really hope you put that intelligence of his to use it’s wasted at daily planet it’s no way he’s not as smart at tony stark or Lex Luthor you wanna cut down crime create jobs he’s smart enough to invent things even has all that krypton tech he can use for clean ups and healing ppl his god complex an hero mentality costs a lot of lives an could have saved many more
