This is very neatly done - I like the way that the first two paragraphs have progressions that parallel each other despite the fact that they are dealing with two very different characters, and then the way that it comes full circle at the end. The detail about "the bright red drops in the sand" is especially evocative - it was the absolute last thing I was expecting, but it fits perfectly. It's probably my favorite line in the piece. Bravo!

(Come to think of it, I can barely imagine what the Professor would look like in red. Even in the dream sequences or at the masquerade party, his palette is always very muted).

Interesting imagary, but I would have liked it better if the other castaways could have been included somehow...

Wow. This is just stunningly good.

The imagination displayed here put me in mind of what C.S. Lewis wrote about Donne: that you aren't really enjoying Donne unless he makes you wonder: "How did he ever think of that?" That's what I wondered when I'd finished this. Using "red' as a unifying theme to tie together the Professor's thoughts about Gilligan and Ginger - it seems simple, but it's brilliantly off-the-wall.

Then the vivid, evocative writing makes this piece a prose poem.

Yep, Proffy is sure filled with red.

Good to see you back here, Teobi.

Oh, Teebs. I'm so happy you're back!

This was so unexpected and so lovely! I love quiet character studies and observational pieces and this was beautiful. Color is so representative and symbolic and you really display that beautifully, in two totally different ways!

And then the third way red is present in his life, representative of his hard work and selflessness in regard to his fellow castaways.

"Volcanic eruption of her hair" is perfection.

This was so gorgeous. All the different ways the colour red has done what the colour red does - shakes things up, stands out, brings the ordinary, safe and placid things to life, is glorious, enticing, shameless in its beauty. All the things he loves most about his red-sweatered friend and his gurrrl. And also about how much blood sweat and tears have literally gone into his myriad inventions and hard work building their mini society.

Dunno how you get so MUCH into such a few words but wow. See. Stuff like this is what never ceases to astound me about you. You take one simple thing like the colour red and you turn it into an epic. I am so proud of you and I adore you.

Yay Team Awesome!

Yours in adoration

Not 'the' Island i'm familiar with. But I don't need to be immersed in the character for this read. This is a beautiful piece of writing. Good to see a post from you. BEx
