You should share some of Jack’s painful backstory and highlight his and Katherine’s inevitable sarcasm battles that most likely happen all the time

HOLY FRICK YOU PUT EVAN HANSEN IN
My friend is reading this over my shoulder and squealing in my ear. She says thank you.
I say nice job incorporating him in. The emoji thing won't load, otherwise there would be two thumbs-up.

I don't think it's fair that Crutchie never gets to do the play because of his leg. I get that he can't dance, but there's usually a smaller or ensemble part that doesn't involve dancing. I had a classmate with cerebral palsy who had to use two crutches, and we always found a way to include her in our plays. In my area, an organization called variety children's theater does a professional-quality annual musical that is inclusive of all disabilities. Children in wheelchairs are integrated into the choreography so seamlessly that you barely even notice that the majority of the children involved have disabilities. Crutchie's disability doesn't even prevent him from doing a little bit of dancing in the actual Newsies musical; so I think him taking part in a school play is a hundred and ten percent doable with a little creativity and dedication.
Besides, if Jack can get a lead despite not being able to dance, why can't Crutchie? He'd just need a role that sings but doesn't dance much. Some musicals, like Cats, are very heavy on dance, but some, like Les Miserables, are heavy on singing with minimal dancing and could totally include someone with a crutch. For that matter, even Cats has a character - Old Deuteronomy - who doesn't dance at all. I'm not familiar with Tuck Everlasting, but it makes me sad to think that Crutchie would be left out of something he wanted to do unnecessarily. Hope this is helpful!

I loved when Albert and Race were fighting over the sucker. I haven't seen it in any other modern AU I've read. :)
