This is so sad, I don't think it's ooc at all. Rick is an extremely sad person. Remember Bird Person telling Morty after the party that Rick's catch phrase means "I'm in great pain, please help me."? And we've seen Morty snap and do thing that he normally wouldn't. This is a great story! It makes me want to know the beginning, what happened for them to reach this ending. I've said I don't mind dark,but I like happy endings, this definitely isn't happy, it made me tear up at the end, but it's a great story anyway!
