I always loved this part of the musical with Jack coming on just a little too strong and Katherine all focused on the story. Pretty sure he was compensating for his nerves. You wrote this interaction really well :)

"The nerve of this boy. It was ridiculous what she put up with sometimes..." That's definitely a mood. :P I've also wondered about Jack's statement that pursuing his art isn't something he wants...I'm not sure if that's just him trying to give Katherine the brush off, or if there's a backstory there just waiting to be explored, but it would be interesting to see your take on it if you had any thoughts. Regarding a possible Jack chapter, I think it could be interesting if you wanted to switch things up a bit and you're feeling the inspiration lead in that direction :)

"The colors of the world are changing day by day!
Red, the blood of angry men!
Black the dark of ages past!
Red, a world about to dawn!
Black, the night that ends at last!"
Oh, seems my inner Les Miserables is also coming out. I get to see out in August, so I better start preparing!
This was a nice chapter. I can totally relate to Katherine's writers block. Have a good one!

You do a good job of showing how much Katherine has to put up with on a daily basis just to be taken seriously. One detail I particularly liked is how she chose to give the newsies another chance, even though they were skeptical of her abilities. It shows her perseverant spirit, which is a great tie in to the title of your story/the “Watch what Happens” lyrics.

I like the frustration you can sense in Katherine's thoughts and voice about not being taken seriously and wanting to do more than the flower show and vaudeville reviews. :) Looking forward to more.

I'm tracking my thought process while I read, so there might be a few random comments throughout.
Now is the time. the time to act. no other time will... oh. that's the wring musical.
ugh. I hate Darcy.
Jack! my baby!
would Katherine call it a new York accent? cuz she lives in New York, so it would sound normal to her, right?
I just realized how annoying Jack is in the scene at Medda's theater w/ katherine
Feedback: maybe give some more of what Katherine's thinking. like when Medda says "you got in for free at least pay attention," you should have something like 'he got in for free?Katherine thought, 'how did he manage that?"
I'll leave more suggestions in a pm. other than that, it looks pretty good! keep on writing!

Sorry, I have to make this short, but I really liked this little piece. It was fun to read.

Let's begin!
Katherine Plummer is the absolute best. So to see the entire musical from her POV is going to be great. Feel free to add in a ton of detail, I'll take anything about my girl ;)

I hope you’ll continue this! It’s a challenge to get into characters’ heads and flesh out what’s going on internally beyond just the surface level events you see in the musical, but (at least for me) it’s intriguing to read (and write!) about. I’m glad you’re doing a piece on Katherine, too.

This is a cool take on Katherine's pov which is something we don't see often! I can't wait to see where you go in the scenes where Katherine is off-stage. She's such an interesting character even behind the scenes. :)
