Yeah the purging of the theocracy seems unnecessary. I mean I understand the country is toxic, but most people don’t actually give a fk about all that much. Destroy the leaders of the country and the priests and the religion would die out of you introduced something new that helped people out right then. Especially in medieval times, people care more about the bread on their table than the religion they follow.
Hell, it’s not all that difficult to change the minds of people. Just look at some totalitarian regimes and how quickly they brainwash the populace. It takes a generation or 2 at most.
Oh well, I won’t lose sleep over the theocracy, but making it out like there’s “no other way” just seemed a bit disingenuous and if the MC really believes that he’s not too bright.

I highly recommend you posting this story on Questionable Questing it's a NSFW Fanfic Forum that would definitely do well for you to upload your story there. They give excellent feed back and discussions to Fanfic Authors when they are cordial and open available feedback is excellent to improving stories.
