Arya has a point about throwing Cersei out the window but I don't think Jaime wanted to kill her. I think he just wanted her to listen to him, to hear the reality he is speaking, to think about anyone else but herself for just once.
So fAegon is outside the gates and King Jon's forces are inside the keep already. At this point all King Jon has to do is fly in with his dragons. Cersei has already used wildfire to soften up fAegon's troops so now King Jon could finish it without having the use of wildfire on his hands.
