I always like stories about the last time the brothers speak . This story is no exception and written well.

Dear Linda, This is a touching tale, heartwarming and yet poignant, since we readers know what the outcome was of Boromir's quest. Your characterization is always well done, and it was a pleasure to read this one in which you explore the relationship of the two brothers. You have done an excellent job of characterization-your portrayal of Boromir is spot-on with that of "book Boromir," and Faramir is superbly done, as always. The descriptions and conversation are also particularly artful. Thank you for writing and posting this! Sincerely, Darkover

What an interesting vignette. So you imagine Boromir as a womaniser?
I've always pictured Faramir as quite a strapping fellow, but it makes sense that Boromir would consider anyone less bulky than himself as a reed in the wind. ;-)

I completely agree that Faramir would love Rivendell; he would probably be in Elrond’s library for a very long time!
However, based on what we know of Professor Tolkien’s worldview and philosophy, I don’t think he would have envisioned Boromir engaging in dalliances. We know that Boromir took no wife, and I think it can be safely assumed that late Third Age Gondor still adhered to the Faithful Numenoreans’ standards of moral behavior, which owed a great deal to the teachings of the Eldar, whose laws and customs held that the conjugal act itself constituted marriage. The elder son of Denethor has his faults, to be sure, but I don’t think we can say that sexual misconduct was among them.
I like how Boromir has aspirations to kingship; as Faramir told Frodo, it always displeased Boromir as a boy that Denethor was not a king!

A sweet farewell! I love Boromir and Faramir relationship, that brotherhood is wonderful, no matter how mean Denethor could be, they never let that taint their relationship and feelings, they were close brothers.

What a wonderful moment between the brothers! I've often felt that Faramir would feel a great deal of guilt over Boromir's death, believing that he should have been the one to go, so it's always nice to read that others seem to feel that way, too.
I love the quip about Faramir being unwilling to leave Imladris once he arrived. Very true! lol
