Yeah, I'm absolutely loving it and I really do hope we get to see Duella grow as a character. Curious what Han's going to do now because he's for sure in some trouble and Jabba is going to need to be dealt with.
Is Luke going to get more comfortable regarding himself as a Jedi down the road?

That was one hell of a chapter, loved it from start to finish. Great combat scenes and I'm glad it feels like the stakes are getting real for him.

Glad that Ahsoka will be coming around soon. Hopefully we'll get to see Rex too.

StoneTheLoner while I agree that murdering billions of people isn't the best thing in the galaxy, you also have to account for the fact that from his childhood he was a slave who had maintained innocence and kindness, this was already the starting point for his downfall because as a slave who wouldn't crave the power to be free? He was then set free and almost being rejected. Because of that it made a lasting impression on his subconscious by telling him the galaxy hated him and Mace Windu giving him the cold shoulder didn't help. Along with this Obi Wan was also an emotional wreck and also had to train Anakin. It didn't help that Palatine was slowly manipulating his emotions and making him feel prideful. This is what we called grooming, when you have someone you see as a mentor/father figure be so evil you'll naturally look to them for guidance, especially after his mother died which caused him to slaughter the Tuskens. And I mean who can blame him? Who wouldn't want to get revenge for their mother? This caused him to be blinded by his emotions. Once he and Padme we're married he had an added responsibility on top of the war. His fear of being discovered by the Jedi was only increased by subtle manipulations from Palpatine. Naturally Anakin will trust Palpatine because of his friendliness and kindness which prompted him to reveal his weakness causing Palpatine to exploit it. The War only caused Anakin to become more ruthless when dealing with people because of its horrors and the fact that he was venting his anger at the Jedi for many reasons. Once Order 66 and everyone he knew died or betrayed him he had no where to go but his mentor. Seeing as the only option after Obi Wan tried to murder him he did. Palpatine's grooming caused him to believe many things that weren't true. While he could've ran away he didn't have any purpose in life and Palpatine was in his limited point of view the only way out. And once again he felt trapped and like a slave. This very well can be the cause for him slaughtering billions to vent his anger. While this isn't any excuse for him to be set free you must consider the circumstances that led him to make the decisions he made. Vader didn't believe in the Death Star and that was his start back to light, Palpatine's incompetency. Even if Vader did slaughter billions he also did set free millions upon billions of slaves indirectly or directly by cracking down in pirates and the Hutts. Not to mention in the Clone Wars he saved quadrillions of lives by preventing the Separatists from launching any viruses or super weapons. Along with that he helped Luke destroy Palpatine and blow up the Death Star 2 potentially saving billions of lives in the process. It is because of these reasons that I believe that Vader deserves a different punishment. I cannot deny the tactical value Vader is with his ability to intimidate and lead troops to battle. The force just makes it even better. After the Empire fell, had Vader lived he could be set to work working for the New Republic as someone who commanded ground troops sending out the image to Imperial Remnants that Vader was on the New Republic side and winning battles for them. This form of punishment is to work for the same thing you previously fought against.. Through accomplishments and bettering the New Republic he is attoning for his sins especially after the Empire fell the New Republic is still weak and needs someone like Vader to ensure that it won't collapse. Hence this is why I consider your option not be the best available but still a feasible one that I'm sure many members of the New Republic would agree with.

Why has Luke not really progressed in his use of the force. in the original trilogy, legends and canon timeline it took around 10 weeks for luke to become competent/decently skilled in the force but our like in this story has been training for two years but is still pretty mediocre

I hope you don't forget when it comes up that "bringing him back to the light" won't absolve him of crimes. Even with everything that went into bringing him to the place he became Darth Vader that was outside of himself. I'd love to see him brought back to the light but also shackled and left to make up for his past deeds as much as he can inside a prison cell.
If you do something like let him choose to fade into obscurity as a free man after he finds the light again I'm going to be annoyed and probably p*ssed with the characters in the story that let it happen. Killing billions or trillions isn't a "Oops. I went baddie for a bit" kind of thing. Heck, killing a single person isn't like that either. Dude needs a proper punishment.

Many people still hate Wanda from marvel because even with all the explanation of losing her husband and circumstances it wasn't enough to excuse the horrible horrible things she did. Her own part that she played in that horror town. She didn't earn the audience's forgiveness for all that. And with Vader I think it's even worse. There's basically no way he gets a pass even if he joins the light again.

The story's off to a great start, I'm looking forward to seeing where it'll go. Thanks for the fic.

So, having seen some of the other...less then cordial reviews (though I'm sure that one guy is trolling, Rey the most important Skywalker my ass...), I feel some support is in order. So here it is.
This story is great. It has a novel concept, and it has taken to exploring it in interesting directions in ways that mostly make sense for an SI merged with Luke (a prodigy in the Force with mortal equals being limited to guys like Palpatine and Emperor Valkorian...but not some guy to magically reinvent technical or military strategy that the entire rest of the galaxy somehow missed).
The biggest honest issue I can remember reading? An idiot-ball moment with no real excuse in terms of character agency, human flaws, and just generally lacking a perfect memory and sense of paranoia (Mara Jade is all hot caucasian red-heads in the galaxy, duh)?
Way back in the beginning. Luke pulled his saber and sliced a guy in the cantina on Tatooine. When the Empire has been reaming the galaxy for Jedi for years, and they specifically have an elite force combing that very planet, WHILE the party is on a tight deadline to get off said planet...well. He could have punched him, or pulled a blaster, or pulled their blaster. Or basically done anything less likely to plant a 'Jedi over here' sign besides going out and levitating clouds. And ultimately? Nothing came of that event and it was quickly passed over. A small potatoes problem of little note.
On another subject, if you come back and are interested in more engaged reviews or discussion, I'd recommend posting on a forum-style board. Spacebattles and Sufficient Velocity are the big ones, and from what I've read neither should have any issues with this story. Even if you're still looking for something more relaxed in terms of allowed content, Questionable Questing has you covered. Its very chill over there and it's not ALL smut.
And I guess Archive of Our Own is an option too. The tag and sorting system is god-awful (in my opinion), but its got more and better behaved reader/commenters then you'll find on FFN at least.

With how long it seemed chap 15 to take. Chapter 16 is probably like fighting the Entire Galactic Empire Army all at once with no weapons and on perma-dead mode ta boot.
Ahsoka. She is going to try to murder Ben for not trying to contact her in the last 2 decades.
She is going to freak out and be surprised that Anakin and Padme had Twins. And no one ever told her.

Just binged this, and it's been pretty good! Of course, it looks like there's been an unfortunate hiatus, but I've seen longer breaks between updates, so I'll be following it anyway.
As for something more relevant to the story...I guess I remember Luke's list of Force lore to investigate? The first thing to come to mind for me, in an EU'verse, would be training in the Matukai way. Besides just being generally Light-sided, there are a...LOT of potential advantages. Probably not the increase in connection to the Force that could allow even a 'normie' to connect, considering Luke is already a Skywalker. But even more enhanced strength, durability, senses, resistances (hot, cold, jolty, poisonous/venomous/toxic), and above all else the kind of stamina that I don't think any other Force Sect really offers. Of course, Matukai training is...not easy nor fast. Being incarnated just a few years before the plot would not have been sufficient even with a Master on hand, nor would it be something that could be hidden from the Lars. And as for getting that Master...well they were extremely rare and nomadic even before the Empire. And while that rarity, movement, and the groups general lack of interest in interfering or being do-gooders would have seen them less impacted by the Empire's rise then nearly any other Sect...well I imagine they still probably went even more underground then before. So, uh, something to really hope the Force arranges a coincidence for.
As for a second option...Ossus exists, and hasn't really been touched since the Sith Wars and the quick rise and fall of the Eternal Empire. And Ood Bnar, ancient Jedi master from before the time of Odan Urr's Jedi Code (what was widely adopted a few thousand years later after the Ruusan Reformation and the restructuring of the latest incarnation of the Jedi Order)...lives. Ood Bnar is alive. And could potentially be resuscitated (though getting him mobile again is probably a lost cause without a boat-load of Jedi healers and artifacts, much less what Luke has access too.) Also there's some surviving scrolls in the ruins of the first great Jedi library.
