Ah, the wait for the battle to begin must be agonizing for these boys. To quote from another genre (or paraphrasing at least), 'waiting on the edge of [a battle] you can't avoid...'

Oooo this is good - I love the nice rhythm your writing has, and this poem has a somber feeling of comfort and loneliness at the same time - the Amis are there for each other on the barricade, yet most of them will be alone when they die...and now I'm sad. But seriously, gorgeous writing! :)
