Yo! My boi giant hand mentioned! So that was Miyu’s over one hundred number.
Damn you really made Cardin, a totally flat bully archetype, into a great foil for Jaune in this story. Your jaune is also the best ive seen.
More tantilising hints about Saphron, the deeper metaplot and her place in it.

I had high hopes for the eventual rematch between Jaune and Cardin, and this more than delivered! Both sides have had a nice balance of time in and out of the spotlight for their improvement to feel natural and a decent jump from their last big duels, Jaune his promotional one, Cardin his sessions with Oobleck. They both started out middling or bottom of the rung in terms of skill, which makes their showing here all the more impactful.
While it was hinted at from various snippets across previous arcs (heh), this duel really drove him just HOW MUCH Cardin has improved. Still clearly favours a power deck, but his strategy has evolved so he can bypass protection effects, whether by burn damage or counter effects. Especially effective against his rivals deck, which favours defence and stall tactics while he sets up a suitable counterattack. Hell, he even used a masterful counter play of his own with that Emergency Evacuation/Rise to Full Height combo to stop an aforementioned counterattack. Like the touch that he kept note of what cards and strategies Jaune has been using since, a small, but distinct reminder that learning and adapting isn’t just something the underdog does. And that’s what Jaune was for this duel. The thing that really drove home his improvement, is the way he had zero issues commanding Battleguard King, minor difficulty summoning TWO Numbers back to back, and did so while still worn out from his duel with Flynt to boot! Guy has come a long way from the walking brute stereotype, and I am loving it!
Even outside of that, the mention of the Winchester family having a whole collection of Numbers to choose from and the bits from Cardins own point of view drive him the pressure he’s under to live up to the family name. Balanced out by his drive not to live up to the faith his team has in him. For all his faults, he’s never been anything but a supportive leader, and their unwavering faith in him is wholesome. The entire sequence of going from having his confidence shattered at the loss of Volcanosaurus, to jumping right back in just from their words actually had ME rooting for the guy! Massive kudos to you for making a walking bully stereotype into a complicated and sympathetic character.
Side note, liked the touch of Cardin’s incantations for his new Numbers being lines from ‘I May Fall’, continues the trend of using RWBY songs quite nicely, and weirdly fits for his character. Guy is by no means an optimist, so that sort of motivational fatalism suits him.
Then of course, there’s our boy Jaune, who shows off how much all those extra lessons have payed off. Guy went from being the bottom of the rung to holding his own magnificently against TWO Numbers without one of his own. Even if it amounted to little, that entire setup to tear through Cardin’s Battleguard King was impressive, and he did a great job surviving his opponents beatdown tactics while lining up a winning play. On that note, like the touch of how his duelling style reflects his fighting style in canon, favouring defensive tactics to weather his opponents heavy hitters while he prepares a counterattack. Which typically involves several combos of effects for attack and defense point manipulation. Even little things like recalling what Giant Truenade does without Astral reminding him serve to show how he’s reached the point he can stand on his own two feet, despite being behind his friends.
Outside of duel skills, especially like the evolution of his character and perception of what it means to be strong. The guy who eschewed the deck he was more familiar with out of shallow pride is now unbothered by not only the crowd labelling said deck ‘childish’, but repeatedly shrugs off his opponents taunts to bring out his Number, consistently sticking with the Xyz Monsters he knows he can bring out. It’s only at the end that he considers the Utopia option, and even then it’s as much a result of being boxed in tactically as it is pride. That talk at the end he has with Astral about the temptation to let his partner take over when things get dicey may be the best showcase of how much he’s matured, earning the respect of the spirit that initially chose him out of necessity and proving that respect is well founded in a classic “What You Are In The Dark” scenario. Guy is determined to be the leader his team deserves, whether that means pushing himself to his limits, or accepting them if it means defeat. Also lead to the order full eureka moment that clinched him the win, managing to replicate his signature move with Utopia’s ability with his opponents defense. Just him winning BECAUSE his rival has grown and Jaune acknowledges and respects that is a beautiful bit of irony, and honestly a great encapsulation of why he’s the leader of his team. Guy is the worst of his team as a fighter/Duelist (in canon of here), but he’s great at understanding and encouraging PEOPLE. An analogy on different types of leaders I heard from another series sums up my view on Ruby and Jaune; she’s the type of leader who’s always ahead of you, inspiring you to do the impossible, while he’s the type who’d walk BESIDE you, giving you encouragement all the while. Neither is inherently better than the other, and can inspire different kinds of feats.
Appreciated how throughout the entire duel, you can clearly see both sides respect one another. Cardin respects Jaune because he attributes Astral’s prowess to his less capable partner, and Jaune Cardin because the latter has made plenty of strides to improve himself as a duellist and a leader to try and reach the level of Astral. Touching that he’s incensed at those vultures mocking his opponents skill, and a neat parallel to how CRDL encouraged him during his promotional duel. I especially like how Jaune frames his apparent refusal to use Utopia against Cardin, being an example of a tool unfit for the situation rather than considering his opponent not worth the effort. It’s not even a lie, since in all the cases he made an Xyz summon, Utopia wasn’t the best fit for the respective situation. It’s effect is useful, but Jaune had traps for attack negation and Utopia was just as vulnerable to Volcanosaurus as any other monster, scratch that, even WORSE given it’s higher attack points would mean more backlash from it’s effect. While the rivalry was mostly on Cardin’s end before now, it definitely feels like it became mutual and a lot friendlier over the course of this duel. Hell, Cardin doesn’t even seem mad at losing, just resolved to go further.
Related, but it was weirdly cathartic seeing Jaune get to experience the same thrill Ruby and Pyrrha do in a tough duel, being exhilarated rather than daunted at the pressure he’s under. Indicates he’s got the same sort of passion as his best friend and second partner, and curious to see if that sticks, outside of the life or death matches of course.
Also like the little bits where his thoughts slip towards Pyrrha, confused more than anything. Makes sense, he’s probably been in panic mode preparing for the festival, and there hasn’t been that much time since his pep talk with Ruby before the battle royale started. He seems to have made some progress during his duel (as has Pyrrha while watching him), and I doubt he’s going to sort them out soon, but having that overdue talk will probably help. Eager to see how you plan to play that.
The commentary from the watching teams not only made for some fun character interactions, but gave us some more lore drops. Especially that bit about Lost Numbers, which doubles as a nice mythology gag to Zexal. Another good one was Naoki’s misconception that only Numbers can defeat Numbers, which feels in character given he’s established as one of the more Book Dumb characters. Naoki in general makes for some great comedy and a natural source of exposition, his over the top reactions pairing especially well with Nora’s in the former area. Though her blabbing about “Jaune’s” Number may have some consequences for him the next time he has a chat with his sister. Hard to explain how he forged a Lost Number without anybody noticing and only managed to summon it once in an off-the-books duel. I am curious if his inability to summon Utopia is a skill issue or the card only responds to Astral. If it’s the former, could mark a big milestone in his development should he manage to summon it without his partners help.
Jaune wondering how he managed to net the required number of Star chips before Ruby made for a nice segue into what she’s up to. Which is apparently another encounter with Cinder, who isn’t even trying to hide how much of an utter bitch she is. Forget Emerald working with a villain destroying their burgeoning friendship, learning she told her team leader all that personal stuff is going to do plenty of damage on it’s own. ESPECIALLY the way Cinder brought up the VERY sore spot of Yang having trouble being in the same room as Ruby. As awful as it was, like that it required Cinder pressing that fresh and deep a wound that caused Ruby to lose her temper, the little reaper doing an admirable job shrugging off her enemies taunts about her bravery and skills. Another nice showcase of her growth that she’s prioritising her duty to her team over her desire for a grand duel.
Whole thing also gives another reminder that Cinders ego ALMOST matches her capabilities, in terms of duelling and manipulation. Takes no small amount of multitasking to coordinate the timing of riling up one adversary that has super speed with the sneak attack of another, not to mention the positioning involved. She has many faults, but lack of skill is not one of them.
On the upside, looking forward to the duel between the two leaders. Coco has been built up as a top tier duellist from all her previous showings, and is definitely a pretty hefty gatekeeper for Ruby’s progress (as much as I hate to agree with Cinder on anything). Though I have to question why she’d go the full four chips wager when she could go three, which would mean she’d either be one more match away from winning or still in the tournament regardless of the outcome. Would also mean there’s a second leader ready to settle the score with Cinder in the aftermath if the first fails.

Awesome finish! Honestly Cardin’s character arc has been amazing! Totally unexpected and heartwarming. You did an awesome job of detailing a more middle range duel as well. No crazy 5 card combos or chain summoning, just solid fundamentals and archtype support. Really looking forward to Ruby’s next duel though!
Oh, and caught a bit of a typo: Cardin says at one pointknock down that all down” which i guess was you just trying to decide how to word it lol

We finally arrive at the long awaited rematch and glad to say it was an riveting event!
Seeing the clash of rivals who started out at the bottom rise to where they're at now and show what true strength is all about, this duel honestly moved my soul. Seeing where this rivalry started at and getting to see how its developed and affected each others growth! Two souls who are both weak and yet still strong. This was perfect!
Thought I do have a quick question regarding the duel, how were Jaune and Cardin able to have two Xyz monsters out? I didn't miss them summoning a link monster at some point did I or a work around that went over my head? Beyond that brief confusion still absolutely loved the duel.
Cardin is generally not a character I expect to like yet he's really grown on me throughout the beacon saga, knowing he was growing in the background, his honest relationship with his team, and his rivalry with Juane that he holds such value in really made him an unexpected star for this story and getting to his the full extent of his character in this chapter was a blast!
Jaune... I wish had the words to describe my feelings towards him at the moment but I can only say is how proud I am of the guy. To fully come to understand strength and give it everything he has on his own, his arc has truly been a great road to see.
And new lore! I figure the lost Numbers hold a special place in the grand scheme of things, wish I could remember them all but its been awhile so I'm gonna have to search them up to recall haha! And then there was Penny's response, very curious wasn't expecting her to be affiliated with that one in particular.
Then we got to the end of the chapter and boy was that a quick hurricane of emotions. I generally despise Cinder that cold, merciless, manipulative, arrogant B****! But beyond her, we got a match up I never say coming and that has me beyond excited! I can tell this is going to be a awesome finish for the first round of the tournament!
This chapter was one many of us were long anticipating and I say it delivered in a truly satisfying way that delivered for both Jaune and Cardin. Now we head into the most unexpected hype match so far that's being watched by a starving predator (And not the one we all like). Looking forward till the next chapter and thanks for writing this!

Dodododo Warrior, I see that new cards are already in use.:) Cool gimmick that new cards are from later season of the show in universe.
Cardin eagerness to face Utopia makes sense.
Funny that revelation of Pyrrha feelings distract him.
Cowboy first shot was likely more for the search than damage but every life point lost help.
Controlling Battleguard King is good showing of Cardin improvement and development. He even studied opponent and adjusting strategy.
Rise to Full Height is definitely more useful in GY.
Wiki and pictures say that "Battleguard Cadet" have 100 DEF. Also why lava and swamp attack as not increased as well? Their own effects are negated but they still should get buff from Cadet.
I really like how monasters affect surrounding(glass).
Cardin initial combo is very nice.
So if I understand correctly Jaune combo. He used cart that would went away as a cost but because it effect did not state where it is to become Overlay unit it have attached itself.
Cardin is not Jaune friend but treat rivalry very serious. Matter of mans honor. I like how he intimidates others to have fair duel.
I knew that in anime it take number to defeat number so cool that you addressed it here as crazy rumor.
Sister being on the audience is sweet.
True that fearlessness is usually associated with stupidity. Very brave person can be mistaken by fearless but they feel fear they just don't let it rule them.
Also nice joke from Jaune canon lack of aura.
Naoki may be worse than Jaune at this point.
Nice showing how different wording effect combo and Cardin made impressive move.
Cardin is even mature enough to not let his ego take over and remember that he is responsible for his team.
Looks like Jaune found passion for game.
Jaune cards have so long and convoluted names that they are real pain in the ass to writ.
Cardin obsess about Utopia and I understand why. Fortunately Jaune had excellent answer to calm him down. Using best strategy to win is opposite of looking down on somebody. Jaune can't summon Utopia but Cardin may think that he don’t use her because he expect counter tailor made for the number.
I had to read Gogogo Talisman and Battleguard Howling few times to figure out interaction.
I honestly forgot about vultures. Fortunately Flynt was there. His reasoning is solid. Vultures are more than enough to pass to next round and his teammate would be angry if he eliminated Pyrrha like that.
Wow Cardin and Jaune are so similar. Knowing how weak they are compared to aces. Overwhelmed by family legacy. Doing better with their own archetype than what family used for generations. Lied to father to seem better than they really are. Strangle with XYZ summoning which keap powerful monster out of their reach. Difficulty with XYZ summoning which keep powerful monster out of their reach. Fortunately both may be willing to give up if it is about them but they refuse to stop fighting for sake of their team.
Mentioning that he will still have one star even if he lose is reassuring. He may not think that as he compare himself to best but after what we seen about those idiots he may still hunt down vultures.
Cardin show flows as a player. Cardin show flows as a player. Forget that Gogogo Talisman protects from burn,
Use of Number 19: Freezadon surprised me.
"Once per turn, if an Xyz Monster you control would activate an effect by detaching an Xyz Material(s), you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card instead of 1 of those Xyz Materials."
Wording makes me think that monster substituted would need his own overlay unit to activate effect and just not pay it but I am aware that wording in this game can be really tricky.
I think that it is first time in this story that limited numbers of zones other than extra monster zones is important.
How Counter Gate protect any of XYZ dinos?
It effect read "When an opponent's monster declares a direct attack: Negate the attack, and if you do, draw 1 card, then if it is a monster, immediately after this effect resolves, you can Normal Summon it in face-up Attack Position."
It require direct attack to do anything so monsters would be destroyed by that point.
Penny chiring for long minutes is funny.
Nora really is blabber mouth.
Saphron know a lot thanks to ancient records.
You had cool idea to integrate literal translations of Japanese names. At first I thought that it was ancient language in remnant to reflect how names are translate for English use.
Thinking about name suggest that Blake have "Magician of Hope".
Real life game for some time we had "Lost Numbers" but no more list is complete. To many to check all of them but I suspect that not all of this cards will remain lost.
106? Why this specifically Penny saw it and this knowledge was erased?
Jaune is real support for Pyrrha. Maybe she will not lose this because of misunderstanding like in canon.
Both Pyrrha and Astral have lots of recognition for Jaune character. That's why neither think that he will decide to cheat.
Jaune consideration of asking Astral for help was nice moment showing character development. Very good " What You Are in the Dark" moment.
Nice speech about temptation that never go away. It is small battle fought every day.
Nice deduction and gamble with making strategy at the end.
Sorry I mentioned it earlier Counter Gate require direct attack. It couldn't be activated in this moment. I knew that you wanted to give Cardin Twin Twisters so it looks like he will win.
I checked for some cards that stop attack to see what could be put in Counter Gate place. Non allow for drawing extra card but wouldn't destruction of golem remove protection Talisman give from burn damage so it still would reduce Jaune LP to 0? Cards I found(maybe there are more)
-Depth Amulet
- Spiritual Swords of Revealing Light
- Power Frame (This would play well with old Cardin love for high atk points)
- Magic Cylinder (this could be prepared to turn Utopia All or Nothing attack against Jaune but in this case Talisman negates damage part)
- Scrap-Iron Scarecrow
- The Forceful Checkpoint (gamble but hand rip is good)
- Emergency Reentry (fit Cardin strategy of returning monsters to hand for Battleguard Echoes effect)
-Dark Spirit of the Silent(force attack on biggest beatstick)
Nice that Cardin figure out what's going to happen, show that he have learned. It is his own fault for using cards that stop enemy attack without destroying or neutralizing monster in some other way.
I like Cardin and Jaune talk after duel. They developed healthy and respectful rivalry.
Ruby is smart preparing cards to face Cinder strategy. Even smarter she calculated benefit to cost ratio and thought that didn't Fall will be to exhausting for too small of a prize.
Cinder really knew what button to press. Honestly I am happy that Ruby fight Coco. Fall needed RWBY in next round so she would let Ruby win and even if Fall were honestly defeated it is not like she play with full strength(fusions). Adel on the other hand promise exciting duel.
I knew that she have 6 decks but I assume that she is not allowed to change whole deck in middle of round. We saw her using Volcanic so is it deck that Ruby will face? If yes anti-effect damage complement will serve her well in this duel.
Way Cinder set up things, dueling each other is only reasonable choice for Ruby and Coco.
I assume that if Ruby win with Adel Cinder will give star chips or lose is such obvious way that it will be obvious to everybody that she lost on purpose. She need RWBY in later rounds but she is also prideful. Making it obvious that she did not lose will fit this criteria. She can sell lie that they will have serious duel in final.
How many star chips Coco had in total?
Cardin and Jaune duel was really good. It is excellent book ends to Jaune improvement in Beacon. Him doing it with his own strength was great moment showing up how much he have changed.
It is only soured by mistake with Counter Gate. If I got something wrong with ruled then I am sorry.
For future lines.
1-Kali to Yang
2-Coco fans
3-Coco make strong offense
4-Yang finally deciding to cheat for her sister and maybe outing that she is there.
5-Ruby after defeating Coco.
6-Coco reaction to losing or Cinder after giving her remaining 2 stars she needed.
"Fiery Finish" reinforce my suspicion that Ruby will face Volcanic deck.
Overall another very good chapter keeping story quality high.

Pretty damn good duel. Jaune's stepped up his game and won without Utopia, I loved all the plays he made and that he's learning more about the cards. Cardin was good too, like Jaune said, he's evolved and become not only a better Duelist, but his attitude is improving too. He took that loss well and made Jaune work for that win. Though it seems Penny knows about 106, very interesting. And thanks to Cinder being a bitch, like always, she's fallen for Cinder's taunts and has forced Coco into a Duel when she wanted payback on Cinder. Things are only heating up.

Wooo! It lived up to the hype and more! Now my next big question is which deck will Coco use? She’s got six of them after all.

This was so awesome so glad to see the Characters grow
Though the missing Numbers wouldnt happen to be the ones connected to certain Emporers now would they?

You did not disappoint, and the singular focus on it without any other duels provided narrative breathing room while also making up for coming after two already thunderous chapters. A really strong chapter, just a "calmer" one.
I kept on confusing the newer Onomatopoeia cards with the old ones, probably the biggest flaw of the text medium
Wait, did, Jaune actually come to Beacon Aura-less in this, or was it just so close to the truth of his ignorance that it induced Pyrrha and Ren' reactions? It's been a while for me.
I also knew you were up to your usual tricks as soon as Cardin discarded Rise to Full Height, I love that card and I'm frankly shocked it's not used more. That gy effect is just bonkers, let alone its flexibility to be activated literally whenever you want-how many cards are there which can blank a Battle Phase so easily? I used to have so much fun using it in Superheavy Samurai (this was over half a decade ago, so after all the original ones released and way before the new stuff), the number of people who just popped my monster and then had no idea why they couldn't attack was priceless. It was even more ridiculous than the non-zero number of duels I won (more recently than my Superheavy Samurai phase) with a very vanilla Lyrilusc deck on the singular back of Cobalt Sparrow's targeting protection specifically because my opponents were trying to wait until I Xyz Summoned to maximize the removal. Fools
...how many Numbers does Cardin's family have if he was able to "pick and choose" to any significant extent? As a characterization for Cardin's behaviour, rich family pressures is certainly valid, it's just surprising that they would be so illustrious as to have oh-so-many. Especially since the only other instance I've seen of editorializing Cardin's background is Evermorrow casually implicating Cordovin as his aunt, which is certainly memorable but much less illustrious.
Okay, I am howling. You just had to go and riff on the anime/manga property of Numbers (I've been debating whether I should just remove the Number identifier for any Numbers used in my Arc-V story, since there's no reason to link them together in the story). Let alone the Lost Numbers, all of which make a lot of sense in the context of the story. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but Saphron's "self-indulgent chuckle" is making me very much doubt the validity of Ninety-Six's inclusion in that list, though (I'm still peeved Dark Mist wasn't Antitopian, such a lost opportunity); speaking of whom, 96 has to be the most terrifying villain in Yugioh history, the invocation of him unexpectedly scared me, and while part of that is the story context and the damage he could do here, he has a certain quality to his anime misdeeds which genuinely feels like it sets him apart (taking over the in your debut episode is already one for the history books). Nora, why'd you have to go and open your big mouth? As much as I enjoyed the invocation of the "Frog the Jam effect"-very ingenious way of explaining a translation thing in a setting with one meaningful language, by the way-I'm too traumatized by the invocation of 96 and have too much empathy for what Saphron is going to subject her unwitting brother to.
And WTH PENNY?! NUMBER 106?! I'm not sure whether I'm more caught up by the implication that she recalls a vestige of the Lost Incident or the fact that Miyu apparently had Giant Hand of all things! GIANT. HAND. WHAT.
Casually discussing the Onomatopoeia Gang lore in the description of the cards' physical actions is one of those little details that just sets this story apart. Plenty of writers describe the duels well, but very few go to actual worldbuilding over the 'sensory' details. It also helps that you lean into duels that allow for losses without needing special circumstances or "loser's brackets".
And Jaune wracking his brain to remember the details of Giant Trunade despite it already being used felt very relatable. Even if the function of a card is visible in its use, it's a lot harder to follow a duel without knowing, to some extent, what cards' effects actually are. Watching those fanmade duels which use anime clips has illustrated the point well for me, since the ones I've recently seen are from a channel using Spanish subtitles.
"Friendship and puppies?" No wonder people make fun of the deck.
Cardin is the breakout star of this story. He's a bonafide Groose (very famous character from Skyward Sword). Only difference is that Groose's squad was excluded from his character growth.

As much as I loved the duel with Jaune & Cardin, can I just mention how much I *adore* seeing Cinder as a well-written villain?
I've been wanting to see that B-list Azula knock-off get punched in the mouth for over a decade, and scenes like this are why!

Well darn, this duel have to be one of my favorite in the fic, and the reason for that is Cardin. Seeing how he improved along with the struggle he had in making it to this level just enhances the duel. Now with five spots left with Jaune and Cinder being in two of those spots, I wonder who else will fill in the spots. As something tells me that Coco won’t be one of those people but I could be wrong, still I’m interested in seeing how Ruby vs Coco will turn out.

That was amazing, despite having two epic numbers cards. Jaune found a way. Now it’s Ruby X’s Coco.

Well the Cardin and Jaune duel went way differently than usual. I actually thought we would see 39 in this duel and I was super wrong but like Jaune said that doesn’t mean the duel was bad. It was actually really good. I like the reason he didn’t want to summon 39 and how he used his own skills to beat Cardin. And Cardin improvement was nice to see. Just how Ruby’s duel with Pyrrha was her main character battles their rival and get development. I felt like this battle was that for Jaune, so that was neat.
Also I really liked the JJK reference Pyrrha made. That made me laugh.
I wasn’t expecting to see Saphron during this duel but I guess it makes sense for her to want to cheer on her brother.
I really liked how you explained the different names for cards because of translation issues in the real world. Like with Frog the Jam, which funny enough I learned just recently about in Bumbles Mcfumbles yugioh video. So it was nice to see here and I’m going to assume you also took inspiration from the video too. Also this fic made me learn that Utopia in Japan is called Hope, the Warrior of Wishes. So that was neat.
And the last thing, Ruby really got raged baited by Cinder only for her to fall(see what I did there) for her plan and duel Coco. Well at least we get to see how Ruby will Duel Coco in next chapter. So I’m excited to see how you do that. Especially with the teaser line of “I await you at the top.” I wonder who said that.
Anyway can’t wait.

Ooh. Very good with how this chapter and duel went. I liked it.
Although, I really gotta laugh a bit at the beginning with how Jaune briefly thought of Pyrrha and then had to try and *not* think about the dilemma with her. Almost thought for a second that it would end up disrupting his summon at that.
Man, this really makes me more curious on when and how those two finally having a chat about the elephant will end up being. That, and the more minor bit of if Jaune might end up having a brief chat with Yang about the ousting bit with her apologizing for it. Granted, probably not too likely unless there's another second reason, but it's just the wonder.
Still, pretty good with this duel showing how Cardin of all people's come and evolved since the Jaundice arc with his dueling working to counter most of Jaunes stuff. Though, does raise the wonder on how he might do and be if he duels anyone else like Ruby or Weiss later, should we see him again after this or even Beacon.
Meanwhile, good for Jaune with him being able to duel and end up winning without needing to try and use Utopia or Astral again. It's kind of different in a way when compared to his duel with Mercury, but in a good way. Honestly, the stuff kind of made me think of when Jaden dueled Bastion in GX. Is that weird at all? :)
Meanwhile on the stands, the interesting bit with how Saphron and the others reacted when learning about Jaune having a Number card and the brief mix up. Does make me more curious on that's going to go later. I can only assume that the older sister might confront Jaune about this after the rounds finally over to see his card and confirm what she's wondering about.
Though, neat with the bit of learning about how not all Numbers are confirmed yet with Penny "joking" about the beyond numbers. Kinda funny in a way with how that went and hinted at things. Guess that stuff is in Atlas database or something. Here's wondering if that might mean anything later with regards to Ironwood, Ozpin, and possibly even Qrow and Glynda considering prior with the fusion stuff.
Then there's how Penny was with her commenting about how she "remembered" something wrong. Might be a minor-ish thing for now, but it does make me wonder a bit on if this might develop into anything for later on whether she really trusts her memories or knowledge about something or not. I mean, when considering cases in canon like her fight with Pyrrha or better yet what happened on Election night in Atlas when Tyrion messed around...well, I think you get what I'm trying to say here. So, here's wondering about that stuff for later.
Oh yeah, before I forget, nice bit with Coal showing up to help Jaune and Cardin with those "stragglers." Here's hoping that he does manage to get enough chips for his team to advance. Continues to make me curious how development involving him and his team will go later for here (especially if we get Neon turbo dueling against Yang instead of Pyrrha like she wanted) and later when we get to Atlas.
And now we finally get the reason for Cinder waiting so long despite being the first to get her chips. She was more or less baiting Ruby. At least good for the Rose with originally trying to move on despite the taunts until the one about Yang happened, though dang it for her for falling for it with Cinder all but setting her up to have her duel against Coco. Sheesh, this is never good...
Honestly, I can't help but wonder if this little incident somehow gives Ozpin or any of the others in his circle some kind of sense of unease about Cinder and the game she just played here to possibly try and keep a closer eye on her or even look into her and her teammates backgrounds a bit more. No clue on those odds, but still.
Guess next should be the preview stuff. I somewhat want to guess that the first one is Kali talking about Yang about her cheering for Ruby and stuff. Not too sure on the second one, though it somewhat makes me think it's somewhat of a chant. Third's likely Coco about to pull out a big gun to try and with the duel. Fourth's definitely Yang finally getting over some of her worries and anxieties and cheering for her little sister, which also leads to her and everyone else learning that she's here. Fifth, I would have to guess is Ruby commenting after likely winning her duel. And sixth is very much likely Cinder commenting to Ruby with her passing her little "test" and saying how she'll be waiting at the end to fulfill that promise the rose made to her. For better or worse with that one...
Well, either way, here's wondering how the final chapter and duel for this round's going to go.
Later.

The most exciting match was for me, Cardin and Jaune way more than what will happen with Ruby.
Don't get me wrong, I bet the next duel will be fun, but always nice to see a match between two guys with no super stakes or underlying philosophy. Heck, and maybe next time Cardin will summoned Heraldry Crest and other forms. Good game.
