Okay, I just am going to combine all these four into one.
I want to slap Gilbert silly! Slap him! Poor Anne, oh my god I would have flown off my rocker, another person insinuating that your husband was unfaithful. With proof...yet to managed to just deal with the fact, maybe it was the fact that she was pregnant already and knew she needed to stay calm. Or decided to just work with whatever comes her way.
Are Irish twins considered a racist term nowadays? We use that pretty regularly here to describe close together siblings. I'm sure the doctors don't but in most societies, in Canada, we just say Irish twins and everyone knows what we are talking about( and I have Irish heritage as well from my Dad's mom side!)

Poor Rilla...so many shocks for one day.
You made sense and explained things fairly well with this one though. I could almost believe it!

I am glad for Gilbert and most of Anne. Considering how she didn't do much for the other Orphans in Glen St Mary, I'm glad that she decided on taking the child.
I was curious if Rilla was around yet, but apparently, in three months' time she will be born. She must be rather dense to not realize that her and shirley are the same age with birthdays three months apart.

Gilbert is fuming, and Anne is falling into her past and realizing just what exactly happens in Orphanages.
But also. George WTF dude.
Ok obviously I get this more satire based than any other genre...but dude!

This is just so bizarre...It started off relatively normal. Oh, Shirley is adopted, okay. Then you pull this one out haha! Not exactly sure what to say... I will go forth to the next chapter.

Oh Poor Rilla! Thinking she has it all together and next things she knows that it's all complete chaos. Reminds me when my friend though oh I'm just running out for a moment, I don't need a change of clothes for the baby...wrong again.
I like how Anne and Gilbert stepped in and helped her. Since Gilbert was adamant that Little Jims was her job and not theirs. It was refreshing.

I agree with Shirley, it's a small price to pay when you get two birthday cakes out of it. But now I am also confused about Shirley's birth year.
Mostly since it doesn't make sense for him to be a year older than Rilla, if Anne was really that sick! One would assume I don't know Gilbert Tell Anne they should have a bit of a break before even thinking about more children! I almost agree with Jem for being born in 1897, because Rilla was born in 1899.

One would think that Gilbert has told this tale so often that all the uncertainty of the night has gone away. He still remembers but at the same time, he very much enjoyed telling the tale once more. Most likely because Shirley had survived the ordeal, and so did Anne.

That is a lot of baking...a lot of baking. I approve of it all haha. I can't imagine just how much butter and sugar they went through( with 6 childresn birthdays just the same!)
Oh goodness, Violet doesn't seem to know what she's getting into does she? Do we know what we are getting into haha?

Oh Jem, you amuse me.
The Twins having their specialties baked goods for events. One a family recipe, which I can see Marilla teaching her. While most likely thanking the lord above that the twins were sensible creatures and not like there mother always daydreaming haha!
I am curious now about Shirley and his interests. though fun fact. Kevin named our front yard Squirrel Frank. We love squirrels and we have alot of them in canada that is for sure!

I'd be surprised if anyone noticed. It's not like they'll go back and compare to the earlier books. I snorted.
I like how they blame all the editors and whatnot, of course, its always the editors haha.
I will try to work through this over the next little bit ( finally)!

And there it is. Gilbert! GILBERT! All that waiting and waiting for Anne, then you go and... *loudly scoffs in disgust* You utter cad.
I groaned in agony for Anne. Her early life was so full of disappointments and pain, and the loss of Joy, I'd hoped she wouldn't have to suffer any more disappointment.
But you know what? You have written this amazingly. Anne would rise to the occasion to keep this child from being placed in an orphanage, regardless of the potential humiliation, and the way you've written it is so in character. And appropriate for the era. And may I also compliment you on your Cornelia Elliot. Yes! Right in line with her "so like a man" attitude and big hearted generosity.
I love it! You are incredible and now I'm going to see what else you've written and follow you!

What a delight to have found these little vignettes! They are absolutely delightful (that is exactly the right word for them and I can't bother typing out another adjective that wouldn't be as fitting, even at risk of repeating myself) and reads with the feel of all characters' personalities and with the tone of our beloved author's work in general. Rilla's exclamation of shock at Anne's apparent revelation made me laugh aloud.
Given how these tales have followed the plot devices the author and her publisher joked about, I decided to review now before my heart was potentially shattered at the final story, ha ha.

The idea that Gilbert is just a man is very Cornelia, I can just hear her saying that and of course with her approval all will be right in the world. I can just imagine some folks shaking their heads over it in later years but unable to get to the bottom of it all leaving it alone, after all if Mrs C says its okay then so it must be.
Thank you for these sweet little stories, it was a delight to read them. They're all so different and yet so plausible. LMM must be spinning in her grave that she never included even one of them in the books.
