9/27/2020 c1 Guest Debunked
I got nothing better to do, so I'll debunk the Guest reviewer who clearly knows nothing about Space Marines.
"Just an fyi space marines unless they are terminators dont have metal armor instead they have a incredibly durable ceramite armor not metal."
-Space Marine power armor is made from ceramite and a metal alloy.
"Also a spartan is faster than a space marine in armor. A space marine is incapable of watching and dodging bolter fire meanwhile a spartan is capable of dodging bullets."
-Bolter shells are faster than bullets. Also, Space Marines don't dodge bullets because it's a waste of effort, because bullets can't penetrate their armor. You need anti-tank weapons to break open Space Marine armor, and they are quite capable of dodging anti-tank rockets.
"I would also argue the spartan has better durability due to shielding which is standard gear for a spartan as opposed to a space marines total reliance on armor for durability. While not as strong in one iteration if you can keep recharging it adds up over time unlike armor which can only take so many hits before needing to be forged again."
-That's actually a fair point, though I should point out that Space Marine armor doesn't have to be reforged after it's damaged, you can just take off the damaged portion and put a new plate on.
"While it takes a space marine over a century to become a space marine not just a scout trooper or initiate"
-Where the hell did you get that? The Initiates only go through a few months of training before they get their geneseed. Scout Marines only spend a few years as scouts before moving up, though it can vary based on the chapter.
"spartan is expected to be fully trained in a tenth of the time (10 years chief recruited at 6, augmented at 14 first mission at 16)"
-Considering Space Marines typically recruit from Feral (Stone Age) or feudal (Medieval) worlds, your average Space Marine Aspirant is already tougher than a Spartan candidate. After that, they go through some additional training that lasts a few months, then they get their implant, then they're deployed as scouts. So they likely start even earlier than the Spartans.
"With more knowledge than a space marine needs. A spartan is expected to be capable of calculating a slip space jump In under 5 minutes which is so far beyond what i can do as that is calculas with 11 dimensions instead of 4."
-Considering the Warp works differently than Slip Space, that's not really applicable.
"They need to capable of taking command of a theater of war and win from command down to squad levels."
-That level of micromanagement is not possible in a realistic combat scenario, nor is it healthy. I also question why they would need such an ability since they're used for special operations, and are typically operating under the command of higher ranking personnel.
"All are masters of hand to hand combat and just about every fire arm the unsc manufactures. A space marine becomes familiar with 4 weapons a century starting with a Las pistol or chapter equivalent and working there way up well to a heavy bolter in their second century depending on chapter it might also be a melta gun or some other version of weaponry. So in the same time it took to make a spartan it takes about 3 century's for the same space marine to be on even footing. That doesn't sound like the space marine is more efficient to make."
-Again, I have no idea why you think it takes hundreds of years to train a Space Marine, but it is completely untrue. It is entirely possible to rise to the rank of Captain in less than a century, although that is a rare occurrence. Also, Space Marines don't use regular human weapons, because they have their own weapons that are specially designed so that only a Space Marine can use them. If a regular human tries to use Space Marine Bolter, they'd break their arms from the recoil. Further more, they don't learn how to use only four weapons per class. Even the humble scout has access to chainswords, rocket launchers, heavy bolters, plasma pistols, etc.
"So I guess it depends at what point is a space marine a space marine? Is it during the tactical years or perhaps once some being an assault marine? Is it once you graduate from being a scout?"
-It's when they get their armor. This is the one thing that the majority of Chapters agree on: you are a full Marine when you get your power armor.
Well I've said what I needed to say.

Space Marine chapters are more diverse compared to Spartans, they can fulfill multiple roles as medics, engineers, psykers, scouts, pilots/drivers (White Scars gotta go fast). A Space Marine can take on more than one group of Spartans given the equipment (power sword would be too brutal)

I personally wouldn’t go so far as to say Spartans and Space Marines would be able to fight equally. Spartans are strong, but Space Marines are just bullshit. Everything a Spartan has, a Space Marine has a better version and then some. This isn’t 40k wank, believe me I don’t want to be that guy, but Spartans and SM are very much do not equal.

While not as strong in one iteration if you can keep recharging it adds up over time unlike armor which can only take so many hits before needing to be forged again. Yes space marines are more easily mass produced except wait no they arent the imperium is just that much larger than the unsc so has many more resource to be used to manufacture space marines. While it takes a space marine over a century to become a space marine not just a scout trooper or initiate a spartan is expected to be fully trained in a tenth of the time (10 years chief recruited at 6, augmented at 14 first mission at 16) with more knowledge than a space marine needs. I will grant you the time in which a space marine can gain experience has a spartan beat hands down. A spartan that lives to be older than 50 is an old spartan. So I guess it depends at what point is a space marine a space marine? Is it during the tactical years or perhaps once some being an assault marine? Is it once you graduate from being a scout?
I guess the point of this review is to say that you dont appear to be giving the Spartans enough credit and are under the if it didn't come from the imperium then it must not be as good impression and I think that most space marines respect xeno weaponry and skills even if they dont care about them at all. Like a your pretty good doesn't matter kind of way cause gods on my side
