I just hope dragons don't go extinct and that the Targaryen's don't win. With the absolutely obscene wealth they have they can build ballista and scorpions by the thousands and place insanely high bounties on the heads of the Targaryens.

Now that is an enormous number of dragon princelings to die in the largest war since the Doom.
Also if the process takes three weeks, then the Targs have been very lax regarding their supervision of the dragon island. They should have noticed the Velaryons and countered their move if they had been closely watching the wild dragons.
A further pity comes from not incorporating advanced dragonlore from the House of the Dragon show, it would have been nice to see singing scenes in a story based off of, you know, A SONG of Ice and Fire.
I second Tony's notion of letting Corlys the Sea Snake do something that would set the course of the war. Buying casus bellum with his life, or risking his life to claim the Cannibal - both seem nice. He's 73 already, he can't pull off his physical feats in the first 5 chapters any more.

Beala is pissing me off quite a bit, I'd appreciate not having another POV chapter from her for a good long while.

I think that Corlys and Vissera are being too prideful here but I also see where they are coming from. Deamon is as always a gigantic git who needs to be put on a mild sedative to keep him permanently drowsy and unwilling to fight.

I'm hoping to see those hatchlings ready for war in less than 5 years instead of in 15, have the Valaryons show up the Targaryens and their stupid dragon pit. Dragons are creatures of fire and air, not darkness and stone.

I'd have been busy focusing on increasing my trade and gold reserves while increasing my trade North of the Stepstones and focused on not rocking the boat instead of taking Tyrosh.
Corlys acted too soon and should've focused on improving relations with the Prince and the rest of the family and just enduring the King.

This amount of soldiers is kind of insane, adding the navy and army together and dividing that by the total population you get 5.7% of the pop serving in the military in some shape or form, to put this to scale the German army in 1939 was only about 3.4% of the pop. The Spanish empire which is somewhat technologically comparable in 1630 during the 30 years war had at its peak 300,000, and if you want to be generous since i couldn’t find any numbers for it add another 100k for the sailors, still only reaches to about 1.8% of the pop! And yes Spain had worse buerreacracy then the Velaryons, they as had nearly 4 times the population of the velaryon domains if you just include recruitment from Europe and nearly 5 times as much if you recruit from its colonial territories. Simply I’m pretty sure no matter how rich you are this large of standing military is barely feasible to maintain. Considering the amount of people serving in the army.

This fic somewhat infuriates me, Velaryon actions border treason and trough be told what they got is good enough of a concession. I also dislike the Velaryon kids, cause besides Jace none of them feel really flawed. I think making all the sons good at swords was a bad idea, and you could reinforce how much they need each other by having firm differences in ability. Most people are flawed but like Luke is just kind of boring and their. Jace I also wish lost, simply for a character who holds intense pride and gets angry very easily losing tends to force them to either delve deeper or rethink themselves. I know you tried that with The daemon fight but it doesn’t accomplish that for me still feels so weak. I get that there the si house but they don’t need to win everything, almost removed tension, as I know before reading they’ll almost always win everything. I get Tyrosh was the struggle arc but the way it gets resolved is funny, lands rarely remain truly fanatical loyal. The Riverlands were freed from Hoare Rule and they still weren’t super fanatical, but besides that struggle has its ebbs and flow, and it just feels easy for the velaryons now, and this is a bit less credible but I don’t like Vissera, something about her talk to Gael rubbed me the wrong way, Gael may not be perfect but I’d argue she’s about as spoilt as you.

Now outcome of war is coin toss
Velaryon have better preparation benefit of glasscandles but much less land in their control
Targaryen more resources more and bigger dragons
Unpredictable: how Daemon and Gael will be affected by relations with Bela and Rhaena, how much fire magic will play role, how many Westerosi allies will side with Velaryons and will Targ be able to mimic Otto and get some Essoi allies as Triarchy in cannon.
However, it appears author will be more biased towards Velaryon so they will win

That's a lot of names and dragons. There is no way to actually keep track of it all.

It was good to get an insight into that generation, and it's interesting you went with not-canon Aemond scoring Vaegar. I still wondered if they might take the chance to get Vaegar, but it makes sense they wouldn't/couldn't. Still, securing (now formerly) sheepstealer is a win for sure. i think the only other notable wild dragons are grey ghost and the cannibal.
i still sort of like the idea of corlys saying 'fuck it', and claiming the Cannibal for the war. in my head he doesn't survive the Dance. even without a dragon, he is target number one the Targaryens will want dead, and they will target him at any battle or warfront he is at. so why the heck not go for it. i like the narrative surrounding him claiming the dragon knownas the eater of dragons, claimed by the man who easily equaled, perhaps even surpassed the Conqueror in some ways without three titanic dragons backing his ersuits for most of his life. he was a legend before he had a dragon riding wife, nd only rose from there, until the supposedly dragon soveriegns of the world tried to decimate and undermine him out of envy and fear, only for him to keep rising. i like the narrative symmetry of such a man, who the Targaryens have long tried to punish for his success, finding himself riding the dragon whose name would strike real fear in their hearts. hell, him claiming the cannibal could even be argued as the only remaining move that might deter war, by him riding the most practised and accomplished dragon-slayer in history. it might be the detterent that makes rhaenys finally reconsider, ironically choosing peace, except oung aegon is still spoiling for a fight and somehow sets it off in his youthful delusion of invincibility.
I also like my idea for him sort of Leonidas-ing himself to set off the war in a time and place of his choosing, having control over his final fate sort of a way for an insert to die aand hen the story ontinues exploring what happens after. I've never seen an insert story actually continue post-inserts life. and you've filled out the world enough that the story can continue afterwards.

It’s sweet that Aemond and Corlys the younger bond over their lack of dragon, it’s make extra tragic when they try to kill each other during the Dance, chances are they’re both pragmatic enough to accept that if they’re killed by anyone, then at least it will be them.
It nice to see Corlys the younger finally claim his dragon, I can’t wait to see House Targaryen reaction to this move, maybe it will send warning bells that the Velaryons are planning something since they went out of their way to claim a wild dragon for Corlys when the Velaryons already have unclaimed dragons in their own pit.

I’m glad to see that the conquest of the Summer Isles went more smoothly than the conquest of Dorne, which is another reminder about how Dorne is my least favorite region in Westeros. Shame that Baelon died, while he did live longer in this fic, he still suffer his canon fate, which I thought would be butterflied away due to the Velaryons increasing the knowledge base with their university.

Ome of the worst chapter because ot forced a dance of dragons but even more because it is proof that your Mc despite everything is a dumb idiot who seemingly forgot about the knowledge of the Asoiaf world...that is if you author know that self insert means the mc knows about where you set up the story. Truly the tyrosh arc was the start of a road for your story far from the initial premise of growth and of a Velaryon house egemon.
