The war is now truly over, House Targaryen will forever be known as both second to House Velaryon and the one to blame for the dance. With the only hope for their House future being that of Aemond who seek to not be left behind by House Velaryon, whose know maybe their lands west of Westeros that can be added to the Iron Throne rule.
Jace is now dealing with ironic karma as he manages to achieve every goal he had when growing up, but the cost of his ambitions made those achievements feel like nothing. When Aegon the Conqueror became King of Westeros it’s must have been the proudest moment in his life, but when Jacaerys the Great became Emperor of Essos, he was completely miserable, I find that to be a nice parallel between the two. Along with the parallel between Jace and Corlys as it only now hitting Jace about the cost of his ambition that his father warned him about, and now he have to deal with a son and heir who don’t understand that cost and seek to match the legacy Jace had made.

meh weak chapter. rather than having a more rational way and exterminating all possible enmity, you just made it clear that this is just emotional ramblings shame mate.

Objectively the price that Jacaerys had to pay for the glorious ascension of House Velaryon as the dominant world power and their undisputed freedom from House Targaryen was necessary despite the extremely painful losses of his parents, younger twin and the loss of three of the Velaryon dragons. As well as the damage done to his marriage because of the kinslaying of his wife and sister in law's family.

Feels inconclusive with the headstart the velaryons had . This just creates an arms race down the line with the targaryens
