Bench warrant for just a parking ticket? Wow, the US can really be backwards on occasion. In my country they simply send it to the revenue service, where it's added to one's tax obligations, with a good surcharge as well.
Also, the SAW variant of the FAL is the FALO, for Fusil Automatique Lourd, or Heavy automatic Rifle - L2A1 to the Aussies and C2A1 to the Canucks. Missed the FAL/FALO combo during my military service, as they had been replaced in the units that still had them by the more widely issued G3A3-4/HK11A1 combo before I got called up.

I like the sheriff. I hope Mrs. Cervantes wasn't followed by the FBI. Having Rick give Kate the backstory is a great way to give us this history. Love the back and forth when Rick goes off topic.

First, Rick needs to hire Harvey Specter as his attorney because the idiots he has are useless.
Second, considering Rick's face is all over the news the way it is and the FBI being well them, wouldn't Big Daddy Castle learn that his boy is in trouble and show up?

Great story! I can't wait to see what really is going on if they aren't FBI agents. Obviously Kate cares for Rick more than she realizes or will admit. Don't keep me in suspense too long! Thank you for another well written adventure.
