So, I know that the Doom reboot series has an element of absurdity to it (you could argue that all of Doom does), but it’s absurdity that feels absurd even by the standards of the series. Earth’s just had an invasion that’s killed billions and decimated the planet, but already the Internet is up (whether the Internet is still used in the 22nd century notwithstanding) and New York has been “cleaned up quickly,” to the point where cabs are able to be hailed and there’s NFL games. Bearing in mind that the cityscapes we see in Doom Eternal show fissures in the ground, this has to be the speediest recovery ever.
Also, the Slayer feels OOC. I get that this is listed as humour, and maybe it’s playing fast and loose with things, but he feels far too human here compared to how he’s depicted in the games. It doesn’t feel like a parody, but it doesn’t feel accurate either. It’s some kind of in-between place of not being true to the character, but not parodying or subverting the character either.
So, I appreciate the idea, but for it to work (well, for me), it would have either had to go full crazy, or be more subdued.

Don't let the scarcity of Doom fan fics scare you. Quality always matters more than quantity, and I do believe this story has the quality to develop into something interesting promising... if you have the time and energy to do something about it, of course :)
