Exciting! I am quite curious to see where this story will go, and why Harry is an orphan (at least I think he is, that description sounded like Privet Drive) despite the lack of Voldemort to kill his parents. I'm a little sad that Ron will probably not feature, and interested in knowing more about Malfoy's visit to Hermione. What was the purpose of the visit? To intimidate Hermione into not attending Hogwarts? To ensure her spirit would be broken before she went there?
Also, I look forward to finding out how is this AU different from canon. Tom Riddle's school has likely been around for half a century at least, so where are the resulting ripples?
I consider it a stroke of genius for the "diverging point" to be that the purebloods weren't impressed by Tom's Slytherin ancestry. That is the sort of thing that would nip his Voldemort trajectory right in the bud, and prompt him to turn to other sources of power. The question is, is this other Tom Riddle "good," as in genuinely intending to help Muggleborns, or "secretly evil," only using them as a means toward power?

i love this chapter! i love the idea of riddle doing this and not becoming voldemort. i hope harry goes to his school as hogwarts was horrid to harry in cannon, and truly, most fandom stories. i also think this is an unique concept i've never come across before.

Does this mean that even without Voldemort Harry gets the joyful ecxperiene of being abandoned in the muggle world to be an abused slave for the Dursley family? The Potter family had better be daead and his godfather locked up then. Is there any chance of you writting a Harry Potter story where Harry doesn't get abused? I love your writting so I always read but it gets really depressing.
