Let me give to you straight author, there are definitely worse stories out there, some absolute trashheaps that should go down in flames, your story definitely isn't one of them.

There are hundred of thousands of stories on this site, there are gonna be all sorts of stories from all sorts of people, some who are professional writers, so who are just doing it for fun, it is unavoidable for there to be phenomenal stories out there.

Fuck'em, don't bother wasting valuable time in your life thinking about what others are doing, because I can tell you that most of those successful authors went through the same shit you're going through now, you don't think they weren't comparing themselves to others as well?

The key is to not look at others and despair at how successful they are, or how many follows they have, it's to look at them and wonder, "how did they succeed?" Or "what aspects of their stories could I use to improve upon mine?" Don't be afraid to put yourself out there, thousands of people out there are doing it too, a lot of them are much worse off.

Be proud of yourself for what you're doing. you're fulfilling not only your own passion, but the readers' wishes to see a good fucking shield hero fanfiction and so far you're fulfilling it, you yourself already noticed it.
As for any potential haters? Fuck'em as well, if they don't like what you're doing, and they rage at you, tell them to write their own fanfic if they don't like how you do it. If they have time to rage, they have time to write.

Take all the time you need mate, because your real fans will mate for as long as you need them if they want to see quality writing. Thats what gaming fans do when games are delayed. Your Naofumi is a genuinely likeable guy, a fresh breath of air from the emo ones out there lmao.

Oh god! It lives! I barely remembered this because of how awesome the premise is but here's hoping we get at least to the first wave somewhat soonish.

Another EPIC chapter! Naofumi's handling of Trash and Bitch was legendary! I was pleasantly surprised that you had Rishia join early, I'm sure that will help in proving Naofumi's innocence... hmm probably not quite the right word XP.

Serious time. Your writing is amazing. I've read quite a bit of Fanfiction in the 4 years I've been on this sight/app (gosh that's probably not something to be proud of) and this story is better than (at LEAST 800 and I'm not exaggerating, I have about 1500 in my reading history) over half of the stories I've read. Which is quite a lot. So remember, if you're ever reading a fic and you feel like yours isn't as good... (send it to me if it's Shield Hero) remember that one random dude who (has no idea what he's talking about but that's beside the point) though otherwise!

P.S. I look forward to your next update even if it takes a year! (Hopefully sooner)

I've red ambition of the red princess, definitely a well written fic. Just not something I was looking for though.

If you plan on changing her it might be a good place to start by having her focus on his physical attractiveness and efficiency which would totally be canon. I've read dozens of synopses of her character and it seems like she had 2 things in mind during canon, find someone that had a good 'kingly' face to drape herself around to make herself look like a better queen candidate and someone who could actually carry her to the throne. In canon naofumi didn't have that in the beginning, but now... I can see herself trying to get herself on naofumi's good side, which we all know is close to impossible. But I can see him welcoming her into his party if for no other reason than to keep her on a tight leash without her knowing it.

She hasn't struck me as the sharpest knife in the drawer, her blatant attacks that weren't even well hidden proves that. What other thing would highlight this better than digging herself into a hole early on by accompanying naofumi, trying to discredit him later on when she later figures out she can't tug him along like she normally would. Only for all of her attempts to discredit him being rebuffed by the support he's collected for saving so many people.

She's vain, shallow, short sighted and idiotic. I can see this naofumi easily outmaneuvering her early on to drum up support. It would be all too easy to use her vanity and pursuit of the 'queen' image to maneuver her into a place she can knock herself off and into naofumi's debt.

I'd love to see a bit more of the mandragora seed being explored. Not enough people pay attention to the applications of that seed and the plant manipulation aspect of the bio shield. Think about it and tell me naofumi's inner businessman would leave it alone. The village the seed was given to was stricken by famine, which means food shortages and world hunger are still an actual problem! But naofumi created a seed which is easy to grow and supplies an overabundance of food and MORE SEEDS which means more plants, 6-7 plants and seeds per stalk, which means their food supply multiples every couple days so long as there is water.

Naofumi created a new fruit or vegetable, it never specified, with multiple possible applications and uses we NEVER hear from again. He effectively solved world hunger and potentially created a whole new source of income for that village because of so much potential something new like that would have. Could it be used in potions? What about the possibility of it fermenting, can it be used to make a new alcoholic beverage? What about the culinary possibilities this new edible plant has to offer?

I just hate how most writers and even the original creator wrote about something THAT big and we haven't seen it again since it's initial introduction.
