I think Itachi would do quite well with a Brandish μ pairing considering her background and potential to cure him, she's also sufficientlly powerful to stand with him which is kind of a must when it comes to him.

Wouldn't say that the power levels are "that" different. Yes Naruto has a few "freaks of nature", but thouse are very few and can be considered FAR above any other Naruto characters. Meanwhile Fairytail has people that can literaly stop time, become effectively immortal, etc. Acnologia and the other Dragon Gods can easily rival any of the tailed beast with Kurama being the sole exception.
In canon Fairy Tail half of the Spriggan 12 lost to absolutely bullshit reasons, because even the author couldn't think of any other way they could loose. Just look at Zeref! Most brilliant magic user of arguably all time and he never used ANY MAGIC IN HIS FINAL FIGHT! The literal final and immortal boss went out in a fist fight! August blew himself up. God Serena was a one shot. Irene lost to her... feelings? Larcade to a elemental disadvantage.
