I enjoyed this so much I couldn't put it down to even review it, man. I tried to watch RWBY a long time ago and couldn't get past the first five minutes, but this was an excellent primer for it - I couldn't get into some fanfics I was interested in either because they assumed the reader knew everything about RWBY. This was genuinely a really fun read!
Couple of things, maybe I just missed it but when did Reid start flying? And how? I also thought it was mentioned in the beginning that time didn't pass outside of dungeons, but now he's planning to take a week break because he's not sure how long the legendary dungeons gonna take?
Really enjoyed it, just wish I reviewed more. I was part of the camp that wanted it to be a mono-relationship, loved him and Ruby together so much it didn't seem necessary to have any of the others, but you're handling it pretty well.

Honestly, personally I would have went with a lie about how Poseidra was a hidden civilization from before Ozma's time and that Reid was forced into a stasis when the city was cursed and they realized that magic was dying. It's a reasonable explanation to how he just showed up out of nowhere and knows about Haki since it could be described as a family secret while also convincing people that he has a "mission" for restoring magic to the world.
