Yeah it's ridiculous. Jason should be there for Jake, period. Not just in the event Franco dies. He's not Jake's godfather who lives across the country and if his father dies he will step up. They've written Jason into a corner. He lives and breathes Carson unfortunately.
While GH has had some good or okay storylines, they really need to do something soon or it's not going to last much longer. They need to get back to the core of what makes a good soap opera. Focus on legacy characters and families. Show women with self-respect who aren't just there to build up criminals, rapists, and murders. Have strong mothers who put their children first (even if the children aren't physically shown onscreen, show it through actions, dialogue, and choices). Stop bringing on newbies unless it's to support established characters to give them good stories.

Elizabeth did make a good point but darn it was done with so much venom that it just hurt my liason loving heart. Jason didn't even blink. Oh yeah Franco's gotta go, but how magnanimous of him to try and hire Scott to defend Jason once the act it done because Jake with need him. Say what?
Yes, that accent Martin is sporting is distracting. What I got from the sibling talk when Laura found out was that Cyrus and Martin were raised together until Cyrus was 15ish, I think they said and Cyrus ran away, daddy dearest died and Martin and mom moved to the south. I don't know how big of an age range between the two but I suppose if Martin was young enough when he moved he would have adopted a southern accent. My other half was born and lived in the South until he was ten or so and being a military brat moved a lot and has lived his adult life in the North but every so often, you can hear a Carolina accent come out of him. I don't remember as much about Mac's introduction or the back story with Robert. Mac did have a slight Australian accent and came on as a mercenary but beyond that I don't recall. I was still into Guiding Light and watching that as well during that time.
The amnesia s/l would have been fabulous for Julian but alas only the great Sonny Corinthos goes from back to back to back front burner storylines. Take that back Franco is always front burner too. When can Elizabeth have a story that is her own? I'll even put Sam there too, because even though she gets front burner story there have been times she has had a lengthy lull in the action too.

I completely understand your discouragement and lack of faith in the Liason scenes. I'm sick of Franco too. He never should have been redeemed in the first place. They should have kept him as a villain or just created a new character for Roger Howarth and still made him Scott's son or something. He's just a weak child-like version of Todd Manning. Would be better suited for Ava or Carly. However, I did like that Elizabeth brought up about Jason never being there for Jake. She did make a valid point. This reformed serial killer is a better father than Jason is and he still won't let that sink in. He needs to get it somehow.
Martin needs to drop the accent for starters lol, it doesn't suit him at all. And it was my understanding that he and Cyrus were raised together, yet Cyrus doesn't have an accent. I must have missed them explain that detail. But Robert has an accent and Mac doesn't, were they raised together? Hopefully they'll spice up his character a bit.
Re Sonny: I couldn't agree more! This amnesia story should have been reserved for Julian. Julian could have learned lessons along the way and when he found his way back to PC Ava, Alexis, Sam, and Lucas could have been involved and trying to figure out how to deal with it. It could have involved Olivia too representing Leo. But with Sonny... who cares? We're supposed to believe he's the god of the show and is perfect in every little thing, so what lesson would he have to learn? Carly mourning him is just annoying, and you're right, Ava had every right to take Avery. I loved what Nikolas and Ava said to Carly and the fact that Nikolas brought up how she helped keep Spencer from him. Sonny and Carly are obsessed with stealing other people's children yet anyone is evil for trying to protect their kids from them.

Now that the buzzing in my ears are gone and I've stopped ranting and raving. I can actually respond properly to your post. I liked Michael Knight at Tad as well. What I've seen of Martin, he needs a personality. The most animated I've seen him was with Cyrus and Laura. I'd have to see him and Alexis to decide if there was chemistry there which won't happen because I am so back to hating GH again.
It was interesting that Sam showed up during that showdown, but it would seem that she was already due to be there for a "family dinner" so the kids were probably there as well.
So sick of Franco. If I were a betting women, I'd say Franco is no more going to die from his tumor than Jasam are done for good. It sickens me that they are putting another chink in Elizabeth and Jason's friendship for it. The Drew mention was kind of cool though.
So Sonny has amnesia and is cycling through a manic state because he doesn't know he is bi-polar and doesn't have his meds and is inflicting this on people who don't deserve his brand of arrogance. Yipee. When did General Hospital become As the World Turns around Sonny Corinthos? I like Joss but wanted to reach out and smack her, reminding her that just cause she has been brainwashed to believe her mommy is Avery's mommy, she isn't and Ava doesn't have to leave her child in that house for a hot second if Sonny isn't there or presumed dead. Now that warms my heart.
Well TY for letting me have that rant and happy Saturday.

Hey Chrissy, works been okay, on vacation the last couple of days. Otherwise life has been okay. Gah, I think I am leaving GH again, I hate this fight Jason and Elizabeth are having over Franco but darn my lovelies whether friends, lovers or arguing still have chemistry in spades. I just hate they won't restore their friendship and the butt boil reigns supreme.

Hi Chrissyfan. I'm doing okay. How are you? How is work?
I can see why you wouldn't like the Liason scenes considering it's all about Franco. I'm surprised Jason even asked about Jake. I haven't read any spoilers in a few weeks so I'm not sure where this is headed. I have been enjoying the Samlexis scenes lately, even though it was silly that Sam just happened to be at the Qs to hear about Ned and Alexis' affair. I'm glad it's out though. It's too bad because I would have enjoyed a Nexis reunion under different circumstances. My mom (who is a huge Michael E Knight fan) wants Martin and Alexis to get together. If it was Tad Martin I'd be all over it, but his character on GH is so boring. I guess I'll give it a chance if it happens though.
I've actually been binge watching old Rae and Skye scenes. This was back in 2000-2002. At the time I was only watching AMC regularly, OLTL sporadically, but GH I didn't watch until 2003. So I remember some of the Rae and Skye storyline but not in full. They really hopped soaps lol. But anyway, I'm hooked. I never saw Skye's backstory before and she was a hot mess. I even watched old clips of her on AMC and her insecurities made complete sense, then it carried over to OLTL and GH. Now I will say though that I think they should have kept her as a Chandler but still made Rae her mom. I did however find their scenes with the Qs hilarious. Watching those old scenes with the Qs made me kind of sad. They were so entertaining. I wish Helena would return and revoke the curse she placed on them. I thought it was very out of character for Rae to not only lie about Skye's paternity but also to not stay in PC once Skye was there. She literally hopped state to state and soap to soap desperately searching for her child only to live in a completely different state once she found her. And it just irked me a little because I just read that Ned and Skye dated after thinking they were cousins. Eew. I miss AMC and OLTL. And as for GH I think they really need to get rid of Sonny and the mob, or at least push it to the backburner a bit, and bring back the legacy families and focus on them.

Hey Chrissy. Hope all is well for you.
I watched today and probably shouldn't have because it looks like they are trying to put another crack in my beautiful Liason's friendship over the stupid butt boil. Aside from that the show was okay.
Anyhow TY for letting me vent and hope you okay.

Of course Jason spent the Holiday with Carly worse yet this is one of my pet peeves with Jason, Carly will do something stupid and Jason will put himself in the line of fire for every single time. He would let her mouth off at Robin, Elizabeth and at one time Sam and just basically give a half hearted stop and pat her on the head and just chalk it up to Carly being Carly. Why is Laura upset that Cyrus' mom was kidnapped? Other than she doesn't want innocent people involved. Sonny and Jason have supposedly always prided themselves for being a different breed of mobster by not targeting families. Carly just blew that out of the water. Jason should just give mom back before Cyrus decides to up the ante and takes an assortment of kids as payback.
Okay, with Franco. Sam wouldn't just leave him splayed on the floor so I'll give that one up.
Never mad at you Chrissy. We all like who we like. I know of several people who initially liked Courtney and the beginnings of Journey. I didn't hate her until she basically told Elizabeth that she was better suited for Jason because she was part of the life because she was Sonny's sister. Mind you Sonny's sister for a hot second and for some suited for the life, she sure was doe eyed demure when she was scared of purse snatcher. While Courtney had her moments where she disagreed with how Sonny and Carly were raising Michael and Morgan, she was definitely a Carson sheeple, more so a Carly sheeple. Carly was her biggest cheerleader in her pursuit of Jason. Best thing about Jasam is Sam put a permanent end to Journey. I think she would still be a Carson Cheerleader.

And did I mention that Jason never went to Sam's on Christmas eve even though she invited him? He said he would, but ended up spending it with Carly, then doing mob stuff instead. I also saw that as a sign. I would think if they were planning to reunite them they at least would have had them spend Christmas together with the kids, even if it was just offscreen. But like you, I don't trust the writers to follow through.
Sam let Franco in because he collapsed outside her door with a severe headache and hearing Peter's voice. I still think Franco is a character that should never have been redeemed... though I don't even really believe his redemption.
Oh yes, I forgot about the mention of Elizabeth's parents. I haven't heard anything on that, but that would be great if they brought them in. I wish they had Michael E Knight play her father instead of making him a newbie with an accent that doesn't suit him. I think that would've been much more interesting. Though I do like his scenes with Laura.
Elizabeth and Patrick would have been great together. I'm more open to the idea of Niz under the right circumstances, and I did like her with Lucky (don't hate me). I also would've liked to see her with Griffin.
Again, don't hate me, but when I first started watching I was only 13 and Jason was with Courtney, I liked them. But I also liked Carson and Jasam in 2005, but that ended fast in 2006. However, if Courtney was on now I can't imagine liking her. Sonny needs less family and screen time, not more. And she'd probably just be a Corinthos sheeple (was she back then? I don't really remember lol). I've only seen some clips of JnR together but didn't watch back then. Back in the day I really only wanted Liason together because I was glad that Jasam weren't, but I've grown to enjoy their chemistry and I think there's more material to work with than the same old same old with Jasam. Though there is part of me that still wants them together to free Sam. And another part of me thinks Liz can do better than Jason, but I would like to see him redeemed.
Gah, I don't know what happened to my muse. This time last year I was posting chapters almost daily :(

I see what you are saying about the glorification of mobsters. The think for me is that Carly, Sonny, Jason and Sam have a hypocrisy that knows no limits. Sam to a lesser degree these days. I think if that was dialed back a notch it wouldn't be so bad.
Ohh, someone else to prop Franco. On what green earth would Sam let him across her threshold without tossing a hot cup of coffee in his face? Although, since she freed him from the storage unit while pregnant, I had a hard time buying her fear of him. So I am jaded. But, with all the Drew mentions I can believe he might come back but I don't know, I personally don't trust that Jasam has permanently broken up, tptb have never had the brass to do before. Unless, Kelly or Steve had a contract negotiation and basically said do something different or I am out. Don't know if either has that kind of pull. I'll be interested in the Sam/Dante scenes. If nothing else it could be the start of a nice friendship.
Elizabeth and Terry were discussing Elizabeth's parents at the Christmas Eve at Liz's house and I am kind of hoping that means Elizabeth might get an actual storyline of her own but I am betting that one of them is a leader in field of oncology and will come treat Franco and then it will still be about Franco.
My second favorite Elizabeth pairings would have been Patrick. Jason T and Becky had fabulous chemistry. Zander running a close second, I like her chem with Chad as well. I also really liked Niz but only with Tyler's Nic.
Jason is more of a sticky widget because he really hasn't been paired with many other people and most of them I disliked outside of their pairing with him. I guess I would have to say by default Robin and for a hot moment, I kind of liked Original Jarly. Keisha and Jason Q were okay too but I didn't see too much of them before he cracked his noggin on a tree. If they are going to split Jasam permanently and not reunite Liason, I'd be open to someone new for Jason. Not Britt but I don't like her on her own merits. Lw's Carly would eat him alive, so no to Carly. Maybe a mid-life crisis with Sasha? Joking...sort of. I can't picture anyone other than Elizabeth currently on canvas to pair him with.

I don't mind aspects of the mob. I just don't like that the mobsters are the heroes and the cops are dumb. If we find out Jason's been working with the WSB undercover to bring Sonny down, then I'd be glad to see Jason as the hero again. Then we'd still have the mob in it, but the mobsters wouldn't be glorified.
I don't know if I should trust what I'm seeing onscreen, because history says it won't last. But Sam told Franco today that Jason doesn't live there anymore. As a Sam fan, I was mad that Sam let her maybe rapist into her home, but I saw some Liason fan comments and they found it funny since Jasam was spoiled today. They said Jasammers are getting a taste of the bait and switch they've dealt with for years. I mean Jason came over looking for Danny, but it was all about Franco. Anyway, Franco had another "Drew" memory about Peter. I saw this as a sign that Drew is returning and Sam is getting involved.
And Carly... she's really playing up the "mob widow" role. She had Cyrus' mom kidnapped and Jason was mad at her. He's taking the blame so Laura and Cyrus are mad at him.
What I've been seeing on my screen is that Jasam are over and are only civil for their son's sake and that Carson have been written true to character lately. They're really showing the hypocrisy from the mob, so maybe I'll get my wish and the mobsters won't be shown as the heroes after all... but looking at history, I won't hold my breath.
Sam and Dante scenes are on Thursday, I believe. So I'm interested in seeing that.
I'm just curious, you've mentioned other Elizabeth pairings or potential pairings you like, who is your second choice for Jason?

Three and a half days off here. I plan on hibernating (although I have a gift card burning a hole in my pocket so maybe some shopping). So it took some time for BM's version to get out, that makes sense. TY for giving me the info. As you know I personally like the mob aspect but I do agree with your perspective and particularly as it applies to Jason and Jake and Danny. I agree when Elizabeth was pregnant would have been a good time to get out or at least try, even if they didn't become a long term couple. 2017 would have been a great time to do it as well but it seems as though Sbu's Jason is always going to be tethered to Carson.
I get where you are coming from in terms of this story and how much detail you could put into it because it is a one shot but maybe some day you can circle back and do a sequel if the mood strikes you.
Happy New Years to you. Foxy and Christina, Happy New years to you both as well if you are here.
Three and a half days off here. I plan on hibernating (although I have a gift card burning a hole in my pocket so maybe some shopping). Oh and another time for Jason choosing to leave mob could have been when he returned in 2017. Time had past. There was absolutely no reason for him to return to Sonny. He should have gotten his life in order instead, protected Jake from Franco being in his home, and focus on making a place in Jake and Danny's lives. To be honest, when he first returned I was really enjoying him. He SEEMED to want to be a father and was so relieved to find out Jake was alive. Now I could get into the mind-mapping, which I still believe is happening now, but I'll stop for now lol.

All right, I'm officially off for three and a half days- Yay! I also want to work on a video, but I'm going to try to get some writing done too. How is your week going, Chrissyfan?
I do agree that getting out of the mob is more complicated. It was mostly due to time for my one shot that I sped up his decision-making, as I don't plan on continuing this story. In my opinion, the decision to get out should have happened when he found out he was Jake's father, even if he chose not to be with Elizabeth, he should have made that decision for Jake. It might have taken Elizabeth's entire pregnancy to even come to that conclusion, or even by the time Michael got shot. Then a year, maybe two, maybe three, to officially extract himself not only from the mob but from Carson as well. That's what a good father would do, in my opinion. He probably still wouldn't have been a full time father for those first three years or however long it took, but it would have been worth it for him so he could have a bigger place (and safer) in Jake's life. Would enemies still come at him? Possibly. Then that's when you defend your family. You shouldn't purposely align your family (I'm more thinking Sam and the kids now) to be targets. And at least he wouldn't be a career criminal anymore. He'd be a better example to both his kids.
Drew didn't get out right away, it also took some time. And if they kept him as Jason, I'm sure an old enemy would pop up at some point, but that's when I would expect him to defend his family and get some good cops on their side.
I still believe the mob is a cult. Cults are hard to get out of too, but it's more than worth it in the long wrong. And if Jason got killed as a result of leaving, at least he would have made the humane decision to get out of that line of work. That's when you have to weigh out what is worse, being a slave to the mob, or risk it to have freedoms and a family in this life.
