I need to go back and watch this episode again. I've often wondered when Don Alejandro started getting the inkling Diego was Zorro...I like to think this was the start of the wondering :)

Oh my gosh. This is pure joy! I've always believed this was when Alejandro began to figure things out. You've done a superb job of showing his thought process: how he knows, deep down, his son is Zorro, but his brain won't make the connection, and how his pain adds to the murkiness. Bravo! I hope you'll be inspired to write more for Guy's Zorro!

Really beautifully described, as if I could hear the characters' actual thoughts. We'll never know exactly when Alejandro figured out Zorro's identity (there are several possible episodes), but that was the first of them.
He has all hints he needs, but he also was semi-conscious because of the wound, so later he could forget / underestimate the whole adventure.
It was your first Zorro story, but I hope not last : D

I love the idea that he heard Diego's last line there. Also, thank you so much for the mention on the note at the beginning! You made me feel Alejandro's pain, hopes, and dreams. This story, beautifully written in so few words, poignantly portrayed his emotions. I've always thought this episode was the one that made him discover the man under the mask. Thank you for sharing it!
