It's a little depressing to read, of course, but it's fine. His family is pretty awful, and he really does have the worst, most self-centered siblings. For me, Bella's response, though realistic in real life, was a little unexpected considering the tone of the first part of the story. But I'm interested to see where things go!

Aww, the part where he was thinking of all the ways that he'd never be good for her was rather sad. And the paragraph comparing the ocean to his vampiric nature was poignantly beautiful.
