Actually, now that you mention it, i don't think i have ever seen Hagrid actually take the fall for the dragon either.
Pretty sure that Ron and co could and probably would be fined at least, this event wasn't isolated to the school only, the DMLE was involved and they would likely be charged for accessory at least.

great chapter, I like how your story's character development is gradual and realistic. harry isn't a saint unaffected by all the bad shit that happens to him and his environment is gradually changing the way that he behaves.

Nice chapter. I agree with you with regards to Ron, though I never really liked his character and probably never will, there is really no reason for him to once again be the incarnation of jealousy or idiocy like in canon, where he could be likened to a mentally impaired child capable only of playing chess. Morover, as we all know, most characters in canon are one dimensional caricatures of what they are meant to represent, Ron being a person onto himself, capable of independent thinking not only instrumental to interpreting a role is what should have always been from the very beginning. Besides, it's a fanfic, it's fine even if you intend to make a rival for Harry out of him (for some unknown reason, I still hope you don't), at least as long as you don't nerf the MC or make him some sort of god like that bitch in the ashes of chaos, who was apparently unreachable in the mind arts and could do whatever the fuck she wanted without any repercussions because she was the princess of heaven... sorry for the rant, I really don't like her character...
On another note, I'm more worried about possible love interests (hoping there will be in this one, though I understand it's still early), there don't seem to be any worthy of his time, for now at least, maybe Daphne, depending on how much of a potions genius she is, I really hope not Diana since I am still sure she's manipulating him, and doesn't seem that impressive either. I'm kinda rooting for Luna at this point, or some french veela, Ginny perhaps, though I like her about as much as Ron I have to admit she feels like darkside-worthy if she can channel her meanness and hero worship in the right direction.
Anyways, keep it up mate, huge fan, great story.

Idc about Ron at all however if he's going to be some sort of Anti Harry then that's probably dumb I hope not as for second year as long as Ron doesn't magically learn ParselTongue then I'm good lol.

You know, assuming Ron goes after the stone i can't really see it ending well for him. Harry would have died except for two things, he had the protection of his mother and the other is that Turban guy (forgot his name) seemed to forget he was a Wizard in his anger.
Both of these things wouldn't be the case for Ron, it seemed a good part of Turban guy losing it was due to who Harry was and what he represented. There is also the fact Turban guy seems much more competent and more in control of his faculties in this.
We STILL don't have anything showing why Ron is so different. He was hesitant to go after Hermione, only going because Harry pushed it. I don't recall him showing any real care about the whole remembrance thing either (though i hardly have an eidetic memory so maybe he did). If you want to write him different than you NEED to show how those changes happened.
