I just found your story and read all 32 chapters straight through because I couldn't stop reading it! I absolutely love it. Watching the show, I've always hated the way they treat him. You zeroed in on one of my biggest problem with their behavior towards him. The part were Callen and Sam arrive and bring down the guys that had been holding the kidnapped soliers. They called out Kenzies name several times but not once Deeks. She knew Deeks had been close if not actually in the spot the explosion occurred. She at least once calling out to the guys should have called for him. When he did pop up, she at least should of been more concerned that he was injured. I've tried writing a story on that scene, but haven't been able to get ut to work. I'd love to see your take on that show and scene.
But back to this story! You've done a great job of showing Deeks hurt feeling and anxiousness before the "event". His fear, anxiety, and feeling helpless while being held was easy to feel by me at least but I think any reader could feel it. Again you nailed his reactions in the hospital and once home. What he said to them was exactly what I wished he'd said to them several times in the episodes; especially those first 4 years of the show. The story hasn't been marked as finished so I hope there is going to be at least one more chapter letting us see them all talk more, get together more, and Deeks final decision on staying. But if not, this is a good ending too. Deeks sees that thing might just be able to get better between them all and can see staying at NCIS is promising.

Nicely written and quite a bit of baring of soul there. But the fact that in particular Sam admitted to doing him a disservice is quite telling. While I never thought of Callen as supportive, I also didn't think he was as anti Deeks as the others either for two reasons; he would have seen a kindred soul in some ways, and he would have researched Hetty's records on Deeks and would know he was not just handed a position.

Very nicely done. I really enjoyed...well, maybe not enjoyed reading all of it...but always felt the story reflected Deeks emotions and how he dealt with the whole mess in a very canon character way. I like how you handled the relationship between D & K . I feel that sometimes writers get too, well, mushy writing about them. I think there will always be things about their relationship that one or the other of them will hold back, at least for awhile, trying to figure out how/if it will affect their relationship. So, to quit rambling and go to bed, thanks for sharing your writing!

Finally! Long-awaited talk. I am so happy to see Deeks letting off his burden and I hope he is going to breathe more freely now. I am glad to see fiercely protective and loyal Kensi as those are her character traits we saw first in the show (regarding Deeks). I love this story so much and I hardly wait to read the following chapters. Great work!
