Just finished binge reading this and I've gotta say, I love it! Honestly, it's just so good. The pacing is fast but perfect for it, but the tone and writing is great.
My favourite thing is how massively more powerful Jaune gets everytime he moves. In his hometown, he's barely a trainee, in Atlas he become a top tier huntsmen student. In Patch he peaks in what he can do while learning in a safe environment. And in Kuo Kuana?
He goes from best student to a proper huntsman! As shown when he punts Adam like he's Jin-Woo reincarnated(I would love it if that's the case).
Though if I had one compliant, it would be the lack of proper quests and any dungeons. Was kind of hoping going into this to watch him go from struggling with low ranked Dungeon runs to running the fade with the Ant King. Sick regardless, but was hoping for more.

that said your plot is beginning to get a little forced: he abandoned his family ending up on an intercontinental flight, meeting ironwood, weiss, pyrrha, qrow abandoning his friend ending up in patch meeting ruby and fam.
none of this for a good enough reason, its even skipping over a lot of way to convenient details

faking his death seems incredibly cruel, why it is that after a long distance flight he didnt even text weiss is also unexplained.
he also seems to miss that if the grimm are controlled, not could be but are, that humanity wouldve already lost. a disposible army that regens and is far larger than humanity, mindless uncaring of loss, unfeeling... if salem consistently controlled the grimm it be game over.

so much for no magic, ofc it gives him the most cringe worthy ability of all. necromancer. how sacrificing yourself result in a skill that preys on death of others baffles me.
gotta admit him being pulled into ozpins circle doesnt excite me all that much either. it always feels when a master manipulater comes into view the story becomes about them. in harry potter he follows dumbledores plan and the story is about how he suffers under it, not magic, not his own initiative or cunning
