I just finished binge reading, and I really love how it’s going so far. Asta’s first meetings with most of the Silva-Emiya’s were hilariously disastrous. Although I don’t think the blame lies solely in Asta’s bad luck, more like his bad luck worked in tandem with Shirou’s bad luck.
I also think the direction you’re going with Noelle is really interesting. Instead of having issues with controlling her magic, it’s using her magic against a living person. And that issue isn’t caused by her family treating her poorly, but because of PTSD over the accident with Shirou. Her parents were always supportive for her, but that unintentionally made her guilt worse. Thankfully Asta was able to knock some sense into her (figuratively and literally). She’s still hesitant in attacking a person, but Fuegoleon’s words helped her think of other ways to help her comrades.
While Acier is still alive in this story, she’s now in a wheel chair. My best guess is that Shirou used Rule Breaker to save her life from the curse. However as a result she lost her ability to walk. But I’m sure she’s far from helpless. Just like how she gained a spell to make a wheelchair, she probably has a bunch of other spells to allow her to fight despite her condition.
I’m also glad that Nozel, Solid, and Nebra are a lot nicer thanks to being raised by Shirou and Acier. Nozel still tries to act stern and stoic, but he’s more willing to let his emotions come through when he can. He’s also more forward with his overprotective brother side against Asta, no thanks to Acier. Nebra is still mocks Noelle, but it’s more out of sibling teasing and tough love.
As for Solid, he’s still cruel to Noelle. But not out of viewing her as inferior to him or as an embarrassment to the family, his emotions from her are far more complicated than that. Part of it stems from jealousy over her Magic taking after Shirou’s. But an even bigger part comes from him blaming her for the current conditions of their parents. He clearly shows great admiration towards them. Which is why their current state has him so angry. But a small sliver of hope was shown for him. He actually did show signs of shame and guilt over his outburst at dinner. And I feel like it wasn’t just because of the looks on his parents’ faces, but what he said to Noelle as well.
I really hope you decide to get back to this story. I know your account says it’s a side-project on indefinite hiatus, but I hope you eventually return to it. Anywho, I wish you good luck with your writing and I hope to see the next update soon.
