Impress me! This is one OUTSTANDING story. While all of the characters are quite loosely based on those in the canon, that's where the similarities end. The scene, the plot, and the backstories spring completely new from this author's imagination. I've been entertained and (just as importantly - to me) completely interested from the first sentence of the first chapter. In fact, this is why I'm writing this comment in the second chapter - I couldn't wait to start the second. As this second chapter was of the same level of interest and entertainment, I figured the author deserved this praise immediately.
This my first 0pportunity to read this author's work. It will not be my last. Now, for the rest of this story. And, when it's finished, the rest of the author's stories on her title index page. Enjoy!

I really liked this universe, and it hits differently around Christmastime.
I loved Eli, he's quite the kid, and he found a perfect grown-up friend in Rick. It's interesting what Kate said, that they were falling for their old selves, and not the new people who are now. It's good that they slowed down the romance to get to know each other better.
I think Kate reacted too harshly to the book, but I can see where she's coming from and why she's so hesitant to trust and overreacted. I'm glad she managed to read the manuscript and change her mind.
I'm curious to read what happens next, but I don't think you've published a sequel, yet? Still, I really appreciated this story, it was a wonderful one to binge-read!

I really enjoyed this story, although I expected a more solidly-together ending. I loved getting to know these characters in the setting of Evergreen and their tweaked roles. Can’t wait for the follow up!

Always ready for more of this story. When ever you get it done we will be here to read it. I kind of regret you pulling the old Kate out of the woodwork but then Rick could have explained it better. Something like your personal story triggered the idea that the first brother could be married and left a wife and child behind. That the story would be fuller with that additional storyline. Kate's struggles only reminded him that similar events often happened during the Vietnam War and would fit perfectly in his original storyline. Being a storyteller he should have been able to show that angle rather than 'based it one you' angle. Of course, you probably wanted to go the angst route anyway.

I honestly did no enjoy the last two chapters nor t he epilogue...but the stories premise was interesting. I enjoyed Eli alot. Also, Castle becoming a professor was nice. Thanks for writing the story.
