Well can't see this ending well. Not looking forward to reading what's coming at all. Plus this sounds like Danzo wants a war to happen. But he would not be stupid enough to send the Kyuubi to the border like that. That is one of their biggest weapons and if Danzo had his way he would be confined to the village and only let out for massacres.

Ooh can you give him a elemental kekkei genkai/tota like storm/sky release as well? I think Naruto vs Kiba and Neji would still be good for the chunin exams.. And NarutoxTemarixHinata for the pairing? Cool chapter, eager to read the rest!

I think water is probably the most sensible choice for Naruto to make. While he does seem like the type of person to pick fire or lightning for the flash of it, the fact he saw what Zabuza and Kakashi could do easily justifies the previous two for flash.
Danzo's suggestion is sensible, which is the most dangerous thing that can be done with this character. I dig it, and I'm absolutely looking forward to the ripples on that.
The Chunin exams are already international events, multiple countries send in teams. Even if you go with the assumption that nations typically only send teams to countries they're allied with or have good relationships with, that still makes it international. I can understand trying to set up something like Iwa possibly sending teams to Konoha, but the general explanation works for just allowing any country to come in with a Team. Maybe not a Kage for a final, but that's a big deal in general.
Is it bad I want to have Naruto fight Karin? specifically for him to find another Uzumaki. She was in Kusa at the time, which was one of the villages in the original Chunin exams. Beyond that, I'd like to see Naruto fight Lee. Naruto will get his shit ran most likely, but it's a fight I'm sure both would walk away from happy.
As for pairings... Do something with Kin and I'll be happy. It's a trope that she ends up getting saved by some dick, but there's plenty of funny options for that. Like Kiba. Or Lee.

for question one I would pick Karui or kurotsuchi they are both strong ladies with a good grasp of there element. for question 2 I would pick an older lady mabui (raikage's assistant) she should be around 25 at this point in time but I am imagining sort of one-way admiration from naruto at this point in time. it could I stay as a crush or you could develop it in the shuppiden time line. I belive it makes more sense for naruto to be more focased on training at this point in time and due learning about the chunin exams early it would be nice if he picked up a weapon. my thought would be on a staff as it lets him fight without killing if you are keeping true to his original personally or move to spears if he is willing to kill.

Love the setup for the chunin exams personally I'd love to see for the pairings, I'd like to see how you'd handle a Kurotsuchi or Karui pairing as we don't see to many of them

I hope Naruto will at least be in the top 5 in terms of strength(not rank in the exam) before he enters the test. I know you are hell bent on not making Naruto too powerful but I hope that there will be a very noticeable difference between him and others of his generation.
