For what we saw of the character they could’ve done more with him if the writers were going to have even Zs’Skayr resort to having to work together with him.
He probably would become another part of the Halloween roster of the rogue gallery of bad guys for Ben if they did more with the character beyond having a one note introduction/role.
Edit: Not sure though it depends could there be a good story to tell with the character say if Omniverse continued with the road trip near the end and he fought Ben again at some point?

what would Gwen 10 be but Anti-fun. No Names, Gwen would be written like Blossom (GO! edition not the original), very SJW, and she'd be a Millennial Tumblrite. Gwen was a product of her time, and rebooting that means you'd get Top Cunt.
and actually continuing the show is pretty good but you know they'd ruin it by having him not actually be Ben 10K and rather just pre-10K and post-OV so that he could learn lessons.
Which is why a Ben 10,000 show should have Ken be the main character while Ben plays the role of the mentor that Ken aspires to be, maybe you can also give him an older sister who's had her own Omnitrix longer which gives Ken some insecurities and a rivalry towards "daddy's little girl".
This way, kids can still relate to the main character, lessons can be shoehorned in there and we can still have Ben, only a more wiser and badass Ben and some interesting stories in this futuristic setting.
for me it was the the Omnitrix in of its self. That damn, gimmicky, plot device, conveniently inconvenient for the sake of the story,McGuffin,Mary-Sue generating watch. you can make fun of the story, it's characters, it's plot, it's jokes, but you can't deny the fact that if someone gave you an omnitrix you would immediately wrap that junk around your wrist.
for me the concept of of this series was enough for to hook me in when i was younger, now i'm just seeing were this goes to be honest, i know that if i put my expectations to high i'm just going to get disappointed. The thing that makes this series worth watching, and what it revolves around (the omnitrix) is ironically it's downfall, now ben has a butload of alien power and the producers of the show have to do retarded things to keep him from becoming mary-sue tier (which he is already at but they are just somewhat-good-but-not-really at pretending he isn't)
the reebot is a cheap way of keeping him below Mary-sue tier, but they are also turning it into a cash cow on the level of pokemon and the symptoms of that is ''appeal to the little kiddies, give wild vine legs, make stink fly look like big chill, make sure ben stays an immature jackass''
so much potential, such little ingenuity (i hate to say it but if it was an anime it probably could have been a lot better overall...)

Ben can be intertaining but he is incompetent and also a jackass, Gwen would be competent but i don't think she could hold the serious on her own plus her magical anodite powers would actually make her a bigger Mary-sue then Ben. Jimmy has the sense to not be a jackass and to take using the omnitix's power's seriously yet his dorkyness has potential for it's own flavor of humor plus it's canon how good he is at gathering info so his utility doesn't hinge on the watch while Ben's usefulness does. Face it, Jim10 is the superior MC
if your argument was purley on the fact of ''the most competent user of the omnitrix'' then your choice should have been grandpa max since it's canon that asmuth was the one who was supposed to get it in the first place, but as a cartoon MC it probably would be hard to make him entertaining and relateable to the kiddies
