There is something that has always puzzled me with Stargate. Did TPTB really believe viewers naive enough to swallow that THEORETICAL astrophysicist (again, emphasis on "theoretical") would be doing the job of mechanics and engineers or even have their know-how and skills? Or take on seismology, nano-tech, biology, etc. with the same or higher expertise than people who trained for years in it. Carter... the ultimate Mary Sue.
Aussie73 actually wrote an excellent Jack/Other story "Renaissance" where she introduce an F!OC who was an engineer and who took on the hands-on duties, a lot more believable that SG TPTB's way.

Nice bit of fluff and I particularly liked the way you dealt with the proposal at the end. If I read one more 'romantic' Jack proposal I suspect I will scream.
