“Decided” is a very odd word here – Bilbo can’t really “decide” he’s the oldest hobbit ever, that’s a verifiable claim. Maybe “declared?”
-“…I believe the entire shire…”
Should be “Shire.”
-Anyway, it’s…okay. Very formal, and while that’s a dialogue that fits elves, and arguably Bilbo at this time in his life, comes off as a bit stilted as well. Almost like both characters are making declarations rather than engaging in dialogue. That’s not the case, obviously, but the feeling remains. On the other hand, I do like the idea behind it – had to look up who Lindir even was, so hey for minor characters being brought in. But I could see Bilbo chilling at Rivendell like this.
