Welp, game over for Cinder. I don’t see her getting prosthetics to fight or a new eyeball from the law. For all she is, she’s probably gonna get the chair after she coughs up all the info she has.

Awkward just about sums it up. Show of hands, who else thinks Nora would make a great Winter Maiden?

what an intro! Love the long ass title makes it seem like a light novel lol. Can't wait to see how you make their fates intertwine

Chapters like this are why we read this fic in the first place.
It's not the plot or the lore. It's the exploration of Cinder's character as well as her dynamic with Jaune.
This was a fantastic chapter. An excellent exploration into Cinder's internal conflict with being a killer and the love she now feels. The philosophical dilemma she ponders over is absolutely delicious to read.
Thank you for writing.

Big oof feels chapter.
Every person has their own hopes and dreams, emotions and thoughts. Some are wicked and live in riches, some are saints but are spat upon. But most are in-between neither wholly good nor wholly evil - shaped by those around them. They’re just… human.

Can someone get a squirt bottle for Raven? Here I thought we'd have to use it on Ilia and Emerald...

I love how you included that bit about destiny. Thats been one of long standing reasons that people have theorized that she believes in it. Because she has to. Because if it wasn't destiny then what was all her suffering for? And it's no doubt Salem who put these ideas in her head. Likely with the purpose of making Cinder easier to manipulate.
Will she confront Salem about these beliefs regarding destiny? With the reality that she was never special? it was all a lie? Who knows. I'm curious.
I loved everything she acknowledged at the end though. The madame and her family were awful. Yes her killing them was still justified...but Cinder has become so much worse. She's a serial killer. A mass murderer. But that doesn't mean she can't be better. Reminds me of that classic question of: Which is better? to be born good or to overcome your evil nature through great effort? I feel like Ruby & Cinder represent both sides of this question.
I'd like to see it get an answer at some point and see Cinder truly overcome her own inner darkness in a big way. This is one of the reasons I'm so fascinated by Knightfall. It facilitates one of the greatest stories of self-overcoming you could possibly do in RWBY. It's what makes Cinder's story in general so compelling. The potential of the person she could be if she could overcome everything that she was and has been. Of course this story also skips out on Jaune's Arc of forgiveness for killing Pyrrha which would make the romance that much more dramatic and compelling but still.
Excellent stuff.
