The stage is set, barring any new development shit will go down when the crown does demand they move South within the next two years or slighty after.
Cannot wait for Hadrian to discover the Lannister twin shenanigans, exiting the betrothal would be least of his worries. I wonder if the Giants and Children will be an issue before that or whether he’ll deploy that news to sow chaos before the NorthSouth collision.
Ugh, so good. I wonder just what Part 2 will uncover. Wyman clearly sees the disadvantage the South kept them in to the detriment of untold lives lost during winter. He’s canny as hell but getting confirmation of some of Hadrian’s wilder speculations must be as jarring as his coming across beings of myth.

the human body is not a machine designed by God, an engineer. The human form is the product of millions of years of 'good enough' evolution. Where any failures die off, and the acceptable continues on. All your career you've been working like a mechanic. Fixing the problem in front of you as it rolls into your shop. Stop thinking about fixing the immediate problem. Start thinking like an engineer. Design the tools that let other people fix the problems that you keep seeing again and again. When you have something that works, that changes things, some people will complain. They'll say that the 'old way' works so why change it. They talk about 'costs' and 'rights' and all kinds of other things that boil down to "this threatens the status quo that benefits me or someone else".

I do love the politics of this chapter
and the fact they all want to use the giants
To me it seems the best use of a giant probably is as a builder or something war seems a rather expensive use of their abilities if it takes a century to grow 1
