Nice chapter, and an interesting moment when it was stated that the body of the chosen tarnished is currently dying because of the frenzied flame, this hadn't been mentioned yet

honestly? I want to see a few more characters (not in the main cast of this fic) being taken and used by the frenzied flame, honestly it seems like the frenzied flame would make a lot more than just a few people go insane

I like especially how shabriri might just wrongly interpret the frenzied howls, and how it's still ambiguous whether or not the chosen tarnished/lord of frenzied flame is evil or not.

Ahhh, the delicious irony of it all.
It is not the first time I chose a male avatar for a game, but it is the first time I ever chose an ending I KNEW was bad because I wanted to save someone. I hated seeing Melina get dunked on. Perhaps it's a bad habit of mine, but I always try (and usually succeed) in finding at least some redeeming value in a generally-disliked character...
At least in my own playthroughs (yes I roleplay), my Tarnished first followed Ranni on her quest for the furthest stars (and he does not regret it one bit), but eventually he returned, reset the timeline (new game-I liked Ranni enough to not want to undo all our hard work), and this time chose a path that would see Melina alive, even if she would never know or understand why: I know what you did, and I doubt how worthy a world without you is of existing. Thus I shall create a world with you still in it and see for myself.
Shabriri thought he swayed me...and I cannot help but laugh because I killed him as soon as I heard what he'd done. I wonder if he knows I only tolerated him the second time so the questline didn't get locked.

[The man looked up at her. "Do you have shit for brains? What fucking allegiance do you think I have?"]
Varre wouldn't curse like this. He would use a whole different vocab to insult, not use a modern one that comes off as anachronistic. Other than that, damn, good job.

This is really good. The dialogue flows well, so well in fact that I kept reading without stopping, engrossed in what was going on and how Melina and Ranni were going to solve this looming, impossible threat of the world ending. There's a lot of stories of the chosen one working their way to this ending, but very few showing the aftermath. Definitely watching this story for sure.
