Love stories with bada$$ Castle. This has lots of backstory that i like. I've learned a lot about warfare and philosophy, but I'm at the age that I'll forget it all by tomorrow. Spent a happy few hours rereading the first 15 chapters. Thanks for chapter 16. I'm surprised you didn't have the author notes at the end of this one, but fortunately I could search for a translation of Kate's discovery. Looking forward to the backstory to that.

I was excited to see another chapter. Alexis sure is learning about her father. Kate's learning things too. I become more fascinated with every chapter how you will turn this in to a, "Caskett ending or at least cliffhanger if I break this up into multiple parts." I'll keep reading and thinking of ways that it could happen.

I think by the time this is all said and done, Alexis will be better off knowing what she knows about her father, and Kate is not going to be coming FBI agent. Too much is riding on what agent Berrigan does just throw her off her game. I wouldn't be too surprised if she works for Rick as well. The end result here is, in my opinion, Rick will dump Kate like a hot potato or in this case a lost mouse.

YES! Long time since reading new Castle FF. Today was the time, and the more I read this story, the more I noticed similarities to "Sideways". Wanted to praise for taking inspiration from an unfinished story and putting own spin on it. Then read the author's name :) Awesome!
This story already has a great setup and, having read Sideways, I know you'll be able to flesh out some interesting storylines and details. I for one am following this now and waiting on the edge of my seat for the next update!
And with Rick being ultra-competent and opposing Loksat in this story, I'll be looking for the windmills line :)

I got to your story a couple of days ago and caught up today. That's quite a back story you created for Rick - and an impressive new job and title. The philosophies of attaining victory over enemies has been interesting, too. I watched Blue Bloods for a while when it was new and remember enough to have a feel for the family dynamic, and it looks like you've woven Rick and Bob and Roy into it well.
I loved the reason Perlmutter hates Castle. I don't remember anybody stating a solid reason for that before. And Rogan O'Leary never turning up on Kate's background checks never made any sense. Having Castle deliver the news as well as the solution to her was a new twist, too.
Now we have a lot of questions without answers yet, so please hurry and... Oh, sorry. What I meant to say is that I'll be looking forward to seeing how you have Rick get Bracken to ruin himself, and get Kate to save herself from herself, and how you're going to get Caskett back together after all this, and a few other things.

I liked the conversation with Alexis, and all of the peripheral knowledge that we are getting. I'm excited that Rick is back in NY. I want to see him at the 12th. I have to keep reminding myself how little time has passed in the story. Looking forward to more!

Something tells me that thanks to a certain councilor everyone is going to ask why the hell the writer hasn't been the deputy commissioner for a long time and those of the 12 are going to be like the squires including the new captain really
