I did not expect Ron to be a Seer.

Are the events of Dark World happenening in this book?
When's Ultron showing up?

I don't know why I didn't expect something like this.

Best bloody story I've read in months. The whole series you are typing is simply amazing. I hope to catch your updates. 10/10

I stepped away from reading for a few years. I come back and the entire thing stretches over 2 or 3 million words, is in the next book, and is STILL GOING. You're as bad as the Third Fang in Naruto with how much you write! And as good as him, imo, with WHAT you write! You have single handedly caused me to read the Dresden Files and Constantine Comics, rewatch SG-1, and try and dig up older comic books to understand references and characters. I wasn't expecting a reference to the OG Human Torch, and then there was one!

been reading since the first book very good. I really hope you you will be writing more very soon.

It's going to be hard to review this chapter since I just read the entire saga (up to this chapter, of course) and all the thoughts are scrambling around like a bucket of lampreys. I may write more thoughts on the story as a whole as I parse them, but for now I'll just say that the Dracula arc was my favorite part, having edge-of-seat tension, great action and good stakes.

Now, after thinking a bit about the prehistoric/trash-world arc, digesting all the good bits and the bad bits and, unfortunately, I felt like the latter outnumbered the former. I'll try to be constructive and list my main issues:

-The scale was too cosmic for my personal tastes. While I trust your ability to challenge Thorson no matter how many power-ups he gets (and they are many), at that point in the story everything either felt too abstract for my action-loving brain to enjoy.
In the climax of the arc, for example, where Thorson connects the souls/minds of everybody in the world to power-up the Phoenix flame. My reaction at that point wasn't "Of course! What a cathartic way to solve the problem!", it was something along the lines of "alright, if you said so". At this scale all the powers at play are so big and versatile that everything they do sound like Star Trek Techno-babble.

(This is very subjective, of course. I never managed to get into cosmic heroes like Silver Surfer, Adam Warlock and the like).

-At this point the story's pacing problems were getting too much. It feels like the story takes frequent breaks from the "main events" (the tri-wizard tournament, the war against Surtur and the distant but ever-present coming of Thanos), so we have Thorson visiting Smallville, Dracula kidnapping Carol, the fear-demon in the middle of the forest and so on. And it often works, some of my favorite moments come from these detours.
But this time if felt like the entire story (and vast majority of cast) got paused for an arbitrary "side-quest" so Thorson would get even more powerful, which itself was paused for another side-quest in another universe.
We got some cool moments and characters, and I'm sure you'll find a way to make this side-trip relevant to the main plot, But most of it didn't feel worth the detour. I spent a significant part of this arc wishing it to be over so we could solve the fight with Ronny and Hermione (and the other plot-lines I mentioned above).

-The Star Wars crossover felt forced. I don't have problems with references that come from the characters, but having actual Anakin appear in the story was too distracting, felt out of nowhere, and practically made Johnny Storm a non-character for most of his screen-time.

******

The most interesting part of reading this saga was seeing you grow as a writer, and I'm sure you'll grow past these little problems I mentioned. I'm sure that what the story needs the at this point is a bit more focus, with many plot threads to finish and so many already-established (and cool) characters to use, along with cutting down the tangents dialogues (there were some in this chapter, but I'm already running out of time to write this) and having a bit more restraint.

Anyways, I hope I didn't come off as harsh and that at least some of my complaints were constructive.

Safe travels.

Great chapter. Really can't wait for more. I've been rereading COS and so I have quite a lot of questions that some are related to this chapter and some that are not related to this book but more to the whole series.

Related to this chapter:
• Is Ron really a seer to a degree? And I'm really not looking forward to Ron's reaction when he finds out about Bucky being the Winter Soldier cause I feel like that is gonna damage his and Harry's friendship to the degree where they are no longer best friends.
• I really hope that Hermione and wanda do gain a better relationship that is more than just instead of just a mentor and mentee relationship.
• Also can't wait to learn more about the 'Special Class'

Questions not related to this chapter:
• What are your plans with Neville? If you can provide an answer. Cause I've always loved Neville as a character. Like if you don't have big plans for him that is understandable but even it is just Harry becoming a little closer to him as another 'normal' friend Harry has outside of Ron and the twins.
• Does Thor switch between his James and Thor bodies any more like he did more in COS? Or does he just switch when he meets someone from the Wizarding world he knew when he was james?
• Will we see the young avengers form soon. Also could you give more hints of who will be part of it? Like I know Monica, Carol, Clark probably, Jean-Paul, etc
• Also is the last person from the prophecy 'a cocoon of time' kara, Clark's cousin?
• Also will we be finding out soon about the 'voice' that Draco has been talking with?
• Also will we be seeing Peter be spider-man soon?
• Has the tower been finished rebuilding yet? And are the avengers going to move back into the tower or stay at the mansion?

Sorry about the sudden influx of questions. Once again love the chapter and am eagerly awaiting for an update.

Hey! Long time reader (since Child of the Storm's mountain arc at least), first time commenter. Just finished rereading Ghosts of the Past and catching up on this story. I was gonna do Child of the Storm too, but honestly I read that so many times as a teenager that every plot beat is still stuck in my head. Forgot how much I enjoyed reading about this crazy world you've put together. Also Harry and Carol are cute. Thanks for the many, many hours I've spent reading your works!

I’m not looking forward to Ron’s reaction when he learns Bucky killed his dad, but I do have a few suspicions of how events will play out.
All of the Avengers will be present, because the outcome of this meeting will affect every one of them, regardless of how it ends. I suspect a few others already in the loop will be present as well.
Hermione will be present, primarily as emotional support for Ron, and because she and Harry themselves are still on very rocky ground and she’ll want to see what choices he makes.
Accusations that Harry, the Avengers and other friends and family members were keeping the truth hidden from Ron will be hurled, and they will not be denied because they did. This refusal to deny blame, and repeated assertions that Ron is well within his rights to hate them and never forgive them will only piss him off more in the short term, but it may help take the sting away as time passes.
None of the Avengers, Harry or anyone else present, least of all Bucky himself, will order Ron not to seek revenge or force him to stand down, even if it would be child’s play for just one, let alone all, to stop him. Because again YES, Ron has the RIGHT to want to avenge his father, and it would be selfish for any of the others to force him not to. But they WILL ASK that he don’t, because for at least a few of them, Bucky is a friend and someone they care for deeply. For Harry, he’s been a confidant, a protector, a guardian figure and one of a tiny handful of people who can UNDERSTAND and EMPATHIZE with him regarding the sheer, unending SHIT he had to suffer through in the Red Room. For Steve, Bucky is his dearest friend and practically a brother to him, and Steve Rogers just isn’t capable of standing by and letting someone he cares for be hurt. For Natasha, Bucky is again, someone who understands what it’s like to be used as tool by the Red Room and attempting to right the wrongs they both committed during their time there. And she knew him probably more intimately than virtually any other person ever has, in multiple ways.
But they will not make the choice. They will ask that Ron spare him, give their reasons, and step aside. And Ron Weasley will make his choice…

I'm leaving a positive review, as someone is review bombing fanfic author. I believe they are not your friend and that this is just to cause trouble on your page. I don't believe this is your fault. I find the premise of this fic very promising and good, however I cannot read it due to not reading the first two. I am adding both 1 and 2 to my list so I can read them later.

I honestly wanted to like this story, but this is just bad. It's akin to sniffing a moldy egg casserole from the back of my fridge: a stupid waste of time for something rotten that belongs in the trash. God help you.

Now, I have hope that you can improve your writing, but that's not why I'm here. I'm sending this message on behalf of my friend (a fun, actual accomplished author, assistant site administrator and overall morally upstanding user) Nimbus Llewelyn.

Review The Phoenix and the Serpent by Nimbus Llewelyn

You don't have to read it, just give them a good review. It doesn't have to be long; some quick praise will suffice. They're trying to win a contest, and for that they need a large amount of good reviews.

If you fail to comply by not responding or worse yet, attempt to leave a negative review, I will report your account to both The Critics United as well as the other site administrators for deletion. Do not think of blocking or reporting us. I will find out and there will be consequences if you do something stupid to him.

If you troll my friend, be warned we will troll you, your fics and all of your followers. We will also place your shit fic in our other friend's community, Shit Fics That Deserve a Good Flame, so that everyone here will make fun of you. Since we don't want it to come to that, just write a short, good review for his story and we'll leave you alone.

So give my friend the good review they deserve and proceed wisely. They've been a member here since 2010. They recently had a bad year and have been through hard times. Help them out and don't be a moron. God bless.

I wanted to leave my most recent thoughts and offer a bit of reassurance. You are NOT at fault for the crude and unwarranted behavior of this mystery individual, whether they are Thranduil Oropherion Redux or not. They made the choice to be cruel and try to force people into reviewing you, but I would’ve kept reading and enjoying your work even if they’d demanded I stop under threat of death. I’m sorry you and others have had to deal with all the crap he’s been giving you, and I hope you will remain well in the days to come.

As for the story itself, I can only say: keep doing a good job. You have provided a wonderful story that I can’t wait to see continued, and I know you’ll keep on providing such excellent content.
