Your story is already promising, it is already in my fav.
I wish I could help, but my vocabulary and grammar is kind of lacking, it would ruin your hard work.
As for suggestions besides the legendary thing, are there other restrictions you want, like do you want them for exemple, to catch pokemon that are kantonian only?

Rivals for ash Paul Gary Alain and Sawyer trip and need at least one female rival for ash and Bea fits that area perfectly since she was sort of his first female rival in Pokemon journeys anime series also because in all my years of reading Pokemon stories ash never once had a female rival I think he deserves a female rival like Bea since she's similar to ash in some areas rivals for Serena may dawn Zoey Shauna miette (with her involved she can also continue that love rivalry she had with Serena to win ashs heart again and tease her like she used to and even put some moves on him right in front of her to see her reactions that make some interesting comfy and romance moments between the 3) drew (as much I don't like drew especially when I see him being near flirt or being paired with may because of how much of a jerk he is especially to may I think he can help Serena become a better coordinator give her advice since he's a very experienced coordinator flirt and even give her flowers to see what her reactions be like especially ash when he sees drew flirting with Serena even have her blush at some of the romantic things drew dose for her) kenny(just because I think she needs more male rivals and having someone like drew and Kenny be great rivals for her and they both been the first male rivals Serena encounters since her previous rivals were only girls) solidad(drew and mays rival) and Nando (never saw a story where Serena and Nando meet so having her meet him would be a first plus she can learn and get some ideas and pointers to help her and also get to know the kind of guy Nando is like when dawn ash and Brock met him the first time in sinnoh) also have Serena wear the clothing we saw her wear during the episode she returned in Pokemon journeys she looks cute in that outfit compare to the old one we seen her in and looks like a school girl plus it be a good opportunity to see ashs reaction in it and see what he thinks of her new outfit sorry for the long review

Could you have greninja still remain on ashs team instead of him staying in Kalos to deal with those vines from the Kalos crises I may know a few Pokemon that could join Serenas team how about a clifairy because I think she be a great addition to her team since Serena dosent have any fairy types yet plus I can see her come up with some interesting new ideas with her for Pokemon contests that's she takes part in and I think she and Serena make a great team and when clifairy is ready to evolve Serena can use the moon stone to evolve it into clifable(sorry not sure how to spell there names just going by what I remember) and how about a letting her catch a pichu because after seeing ash with Pikachu for so long she wounded what it be like to have a Pikachu of her own and be on her shoulders like ashs Pikachu the way I see it she gets a egg that contains pichu before it hatches Serena and ash right next to each other and once pichu sees Serena and ash for the first time she sees them as her parents when Serena notices this which could create a special moment for Serena imagining herself and ash as parents where they actually have a family of there own which would put a smile on her face while blushing also having Serena get her own Pikachu can share a romantic interest in ashs Pikachu as for the third how about having a dartini since she doesn't have a dragon type Pokemon yet

I've been looking for a story featuring ash brock and serena traveling together I'm interested to see what you have planned
unfortunately I'm not a real good at writing i hope someone else will help for serena and brock, maybe a absol for serena or ralts, brock it's difficult for me decided for what ever you have planned I'm down stay safe and keep up the good work
