I'm glad I jumped ahead. This story moves at such a snail's pace and I still feel no more confident that the MC could actually affect the outcome of the story, or even probably survive it. I don't recommend it to anyone.

This story is, fundamentally, about watching a character make decent decisions and still lose very often. It's tiresome. Yes, it's good to show a character is not flawless and can push on past adversity... But this is Naruto. A world where people are born massively unequal and the final conflict is on a power scale beyond anything anyone else except people chosen by fate. I'm supposed to think the main character will be able to even survive the coming Wars when he loses this much? When people better and more experienced than him died in droves? Barring some ass-pull or compete plot change, it seems like this guy will wind up the bitch of every named character he fights.

I think I am caught up and this was a great chapter!
Sune Jakusho, low-level Samurai/Assassination Target:
It was interesting and it seems that Takuma went with Amami preference to kill the target visiting the geisha Yuri. Amami a opportunistic and ever adapting to change, while Takuma seems like a stickler for a plan and yet is willing to change if the change helps achieve the mission.
Afumi, Monarch/Wife of Samurai of the House:
She was terrified. Honestly she seem very secure and following routine...It just when the disguise intruders came in and dealt with most of her servants non-violently along with subtle threats to her Daughter-In-Law and Grandkids; she was forced to comply. Afumi thinking a pair of Daggers from the Waring State Period in her Husband study was easy price to pay for the safety of their family/Clan. She was strong, but also not stubborn. She read the situation and did what she thought was best...Most likely her Husband and her Son's are going to be looking/patrolling for these intruders, probably guessing they are Shinobi because even if this is "Naruto" not many people challenge/intrude on a Samurai Household if they wanted to keep their lives/reputation, especially stealing. Amami was voice and calm direct orders, while Takuma was the silent and yet ever present threat given Afumi was outnumbered and out muscle.
Takuma and Amami Yamanaka:
They seem to work well together. Again, Amami very flexible and thinks outside the box of Mission perimeters, while Takuma likes to go off in check-list style he is capable of adapting and not causing conflict within the mission. What makes Takuma useful was that he view the mission dealing with Samurai's either the Target to kill and acquiring Daggers within a Samurai Household. Shinobi in "Naruto" might be dominant power, but it also difference in Culture. Samurai have tradition/culture that differs from Shinobi and Takuma took note of that as they acquire the Daggers in the Samurai Household by going through the back through Servants quarters. Amami was great with communication and making sure the Afumi did not cause any trouble with clear communication along with acquiring the Daggers.
Questions
1) Will Amami Yamanaka and Takuma be the first to finish the assignment before their peers or will they come in 2nd to mid pack passing?
2) How likely is Amami POV going to give us a Psychological read on Takuma on his personality and triggers/faults?
3) Are we going to have ANBU Exam have a Tournament setting, but not to eliminate participates but to see their Combat strengths/weaknesses on which ANBU Cell/Team would recruit certain participates?
4) How likely is going to have Takuma spar with Izumi Uchiha, Hana Inuzuka, or Okubo Momoe with their former classmates watching during one of their Reunion parties and just setting up a time for that spar?
Suggestions
1) That would not be a bad idea. Kind of want Takuma and Amami to be first based on methods, cooperation, and ability to achieve their mission without being detected. Kind of like they make a surprisingly good team, even if they get on each other nerves. It also paints a target on Takuma and Amami Yamanaka with the other candidates.
2) She Yamanaka, so I kind of expect Amami to be great a Psychological Analysis and developing understanding on reading people. Takuma probably something that Amami can understand on the surface, but notices that Takuma cares a weight/need of strength that he does not currently have. Probably Amami not knowing his current Rank or maybe she does. She can tell that Takuma pushes himself hard and seems tired with eye-bags, but also the amount of scars that his skin might show...Something to give hint to Amami that Takuma not afraid of being injured if he can take out his opponent.
3) That not...a bad idea. Kind of like Takuma and candidates think they are being widdle-down further, but really it something for ANBU Squad Captains to pick out certain talents that they might need with Combat or not. Perhaps evening seeing those ANBU not great at fighting and trying to figure out a training program/assessment on when they can achieve certain Jutsu in ANBU Achieves within permission or need to go back to work on the basics. if there is a Tournament Style fight at the end, it would be interesting how the Candidates thought they have to win to BE in the ANBU, but really those that made it to the Tournament Selection are ANBU qualified and it just further assessment of their skills to make sure their information accurate.

It just a idea. I do not see Izumi Uchiha fighting Takuma, but I could be wrong. The point is for his former classmates to see Takuma truly being someone they cannot fight/recognize from their Academy days.

Yamanaka Amami and Takuma strategy/sizing each other up was intense. Obviously, Amami trying to push certain buttons in Takuma to see what his stressors/triggers are for anything later on. Takuma is just being serious and pushing towards the objective of the next test in the Imperial City of abducting certain Daggers of Warring States period in a Samurai Household, meeting point of Contact for Intelligence, and possible Assassination attempt on certain Ronin...Amami helping with reminding the time frame within 3-Days is something. There is no correct order to reach each Mission Objective, just to complete them and achieve each Objective.
Obviously, they have different ways to go towards each assignment, such as to kill the Target before or with the Geisha...So it interesting to read how they work with each other on a Stimulated Mission for an ANBU test of espionage, acquiring items and assassination.

Honestly, it interesting to read Takuma work with a Yamanaka Kounchi and she is a bit of something...The right type of something that can manipulate/stir the pot of chaos so to speak, with Takuma own unique experience of morally grey areas. The quips with each other on WHOM will be carrying WHOM in this teamwork. Sort of source of pride and carrying your own weight a Two-Man team is interesting to read...Still, it serious about Fire Daimyo Imperial City under their trusted Samurai, which I hope there more a difference between Samurai and Shinobi in "Naruto" and how you do it "The Outsider's Resolve" unique flair.
