I've read this a couple of times and totally agree with the trio's decision to leave Britain for good. Good Ole Fumblemort would only end up conning Harry into walking to his death to supposedly kill the Horcrux in his scar anyway. The old Fraudster had ten plus years to do something to prevent Vulturewurst from returning but sat on his bony old ass doing nothing. Then too he allowed Hogwash to become less than a second-rate school. He really should've got down on his knees and thanked whatever Gods or Goddess there were that more muggleborns didn't see the light and leave the school that next year.

This is what really should've happened in canon. Harry the doormat was so bad it was a crime! And Good Ole Fumblemort should've been arrested as an accessory to Child Abuse for leaving Harry with the Dursleys. Also, for Child Abuse for leaving baby Harry on the Dursley's doorstep on 1st November 1981. The entire staff should've faced charges for all the bullshit that went on in that so-called school. Fumblemort used it as his personal playground to do whatever he wanted to Harry. Thus, it's no wonder he made damn sure Harry never knew anything useful about the magical world.

Glad Harry & Hermione stood up for themselves. McGonagall's telling off was a long time coming. Gryffindor House (& the other Houses) treatment of Harry, Hermione, & Neville for the point loss was horrible & ridiculous. (Maybe most Gryffindor, Hufflepuff & Ravenclaw students are simply incapable of earning points because they are incapable of [or can't be bothered] study & practice ahead of class, do well on the homework, answer the teacher's questions, and successfully cast the spells in class - something only Hermione & a few other brains [clearly the ENTIRE House of Ravenclaw doesn't fit the traits wise, knowledgeable, or studious] can apparently do.)

You were right about how infrequently Snape mentioned James, but your takeaways were just plain stupid.
You criticise Harry’s behaviour like he isn’t getting his mind assaulted by someone who has consistently mistreated and harassed him. I would argue a 15yo acting a bit reckless and self important in retaliation is a damn sight more excusable than a grown man never growing past his victim mentality and bullying children because of it… worse, the two he bullies the most are the two he indirectly made orphans.
Also, “thought he was invincible”? They were in hiding because it was the exact bloody opposite. James was well aware how weak he was compared to Voldemort but he threw his life down to try and save his wife and kid, and you boil that down to arrogance? Are you touched in the head? It is INARGUABLY insulting that Snape would belittle James’ sacrifice and then use that as a cudgel to ‘criticise’ Harry for being reasonably ticked off.
Lastly, does it take courage? Sure. Does that automatically make him a war hero? Hell no. Like it or not, the ONLY motive Snape had for switching sides was to kill Riddle for killing Lily. He was still the same, sadistic, evil little prick he was that knowingly joined the Death Eaters straight out of Hogwarts. Add on that his contributions as a spy, at least up until the end were practically nonexistent?

"He insults Harry's dead father on a daily basis"... Um... No? Seven books and Severus Snape refers to James, what? Twice? The first time in Harry's Fifth year? When Harry finds out that Snape actually knew his parents. When Harry is FIFTEEN and acting, yes, as reckless, self-important and yes, as arrogant as James ever was, be it for entirely different reasons. Telling a teenager he's in danger of being as reckless and possibly as dead as his died-at-22-because-he-thought-he-was-invincible father does NOT count as 'insulting' imho.
Also, being a spy is a highly dangerous occupation, requiring ingenuity and courage. In the muggle world, books are written and movies made about spies infiltrating enemy lines and bringing valuable info, defeating the enemy and saving lives, and yet Hermione seems to think that a war hero is someone to spit on?
