i personally don't like the way death and magic are portrayed, i prefer when they are portrayed more so as an otherworldly force that has a overarching goal or principle that guides their actions, like death wanting to preserve the cycle of life, or magic wanting everything to be balanced (the reward will be equal to the sacrifice) in regards to magic. i dont like them being literal entities that are more like traditional gods, that want things and have conflicts or relationships etc... though it's probably for a reason that they are the way they are.
good chapter, i like now that hydrus is more sceptical about magic and i hope he does cut it off with magic and regain what he sacrificed.

often times the thing that the reader wants to happen the least, is the best for the plot, as long as it happens for a good reason and has a good payoff i must add.
like how instead of him and sirius having a talk and resolving all of their issues and becoming a functional family, it's better to force then apart and then have them both decide to come together, making it more satisfying and more realistic, because real life sadly isnt ideal and there are always rocks, bumps, and potholes on the road.
I hope that harry does regain what he lost, like this mysterious lover that hes forgotten among the other things that made him more human that he seems to have sacrificed or discarded during his war.

good chapter, with the ritual, i dont like the fact that harry knows whats going on, but i have no idea and am left with no answers.
in short, i think that we should know any relevant information that hydrus knows, and if you're going to give us a mystery, we need to have the same info that hydrus has, and the same unanswered questions that hydrus has, if i (the reader) am the only party left asking questions it just annoys me

its something minor, but its been bugging for a while: everywhere except the us and canada, 'mum' is spelt 'mum' not 'mom' something i would reccomend doing is setting if you use a spelling and/or grammar checker, change the language from 'english (usto 'english (ukbecause then it should point those things out automatically.

So it's not so much that he's too far gone to change back, it's that doing so by snapping his vow in an instant might undo his existence. So, in order to change back, he needs to more or less manifest his divine potential and undo what initially gave him said potential, causing reality to collapse in on him, but since he'll be something akin to a demigod he'll be able to pushback. Or something like that?

This is the cliffhanger you leave us on?!
Fair enough - gramps Arcturus turned away with his tail between his legs, so it's not like there's an immediate danger. With that said, you've got me really hooked on Harry trying to undo Hydrus, and I really loved all of the scenes where he tried to return the love of his children! Shame about Andromeda being robbed of the opportunity to finally try a bone saw out, but there's always next time
I'm wondering if maybe Hydrus' delved too deep and too greedily in his pact to reborn as the nexus of so many prominent lineages. Not even Tommy boy was left untouched when he messed with the core of here s being, and he didn't have the aid of a god when doing so. I recall Hydrus temporarily changing back (maybe 40 chapters back or whenever the goblin tunnel trip was), but with his continued growth, internal balance, and now direct disloyalty to Magic (who presumably is doing everything she can to keep the pact), he might actually be quasi morphed on a conceptual level - even if he manages to turn again, will it be enough?
There's also the part where fanon often establishes Harry as the grandson/great grandson of Dorea, so there may be lingering aspects of madness, but we haven't really seen traces of it in James, Harry, or even Draco (who may not have ever been a host to the Black blessing, but he certainly has a closer blood connection than Harry. Unless you count Sirius, but that's less blood and more intention, but I digress)

This story has no direction it feels like im just wandering about with no goal. Harry/ Hydrus really doesnt have a defined character either and we are well over 100,000 words in. All his relationships are fake and he seems to hold no real attachments future or past that are worth mentioning. Ive read so many fics that i really try to push past things like this when reading now but honestly this is just a chore to read because its impossible to actually feel invested.

Quite the hectic efforts. Maybe Fate can tell him the best way to go about this?

chapter was interesting but definitely is missing that sense of urgency i think you where trying to inject into the final few scenes.
